Should we go to the water parks and DTD?
We have never been to the water parks or DTD. Do you think we should make anything there a "must do"? I've always meant to take the boat to DTD but have always ran out of time! Water parks are not my thing but my DD would love it! Are the lines horrible?

How long are you going to be at WDW? We never miss Downtown Disney but we don't spend more than a few hours there. We try to go to a water park each trip--they really are fun. Even if you don't like the slides the lazy river is so relaxing. I haven't found the lines to be too long and they seem to move pretty fast. Go early, right when the park opens, and leave early to mid-afternoon and you sould be able to do everything there.

Water parks are great and gives a chance to kick back and relax especially in the lazy river as Disney Teacher says, " It is very relaxing."

We love to go to DTD. It is a great way to spend your first day if you dont want to waste a pass day. Lots of stores and food. As for the water parks.......to each his own. Guess it all depends if you like that kind of thing or not.

If you have the time, you should do a water park!! I've never done any of Disney's - but water parks are just plain FUN!!
As far as DtD - Yes! GO!!! Eat at Earl of Sandwich, and get dessert at Ghirardelli's (I strongly suggest the giant cookie - you will NOT be sorry!) I also echo everyone else that has said they have really neat shops! You will also enjoy the giant lego sculptures! DtD is alot of fun!

Then stroll over to Ghirardelli's for ice cream, malt, or a cookie to go. Then stroll over to lego sculptures...if you want to sit down I would suggest sitting at the theater across from Ghirardelli's.

We will be in Disney for 10 days!!!!! The longest i've ever stayed before is 8! DTD sounds like fun. So does the water park, it just kills me to spend a day away from the parks! I quess I should try it on a day that has EMH in the evening and then We can do both!

Yes! Because, it's a water park like no other, I'm sure!!!
It's worth it, and if you have 10 days, you'll have plenty of time - esp. with the new evening hours. You've NEVER been to DtD!? How can you stand it!? LOL!

Re: Should we go to the water parks and DTD?
10 days!! wow!!! I'd definitely suggest trying both a water park and DTD. Your plan to do a water park on an EMH day sounds great. Leave a little naptime in between. :) The lines usually aren't bad. I've only been to Blizzard Beach, and the only long lines there are for Teamboat Springs and Summit Plummet. But by getting there early like others have suggested, you should be able to avoid the lines.
My family usually goes to DTD at night when the parks start to close. They have all kinds of shops and restaurants for everyone in there. The Marketplace to me seems more Disney-like and kid-friendly. West Side seems more like a really nice strip mall. Both parts are great and have plenty to do. I'd definitely take a few hours there to look around. :)

Re: Should we go to the water parks and DTD?
We always do DTD and have visited all 3(yes I still count RC) water parks. We usually save DTD for the last night and do some shopping and eat dinner there. It helps the kids wind down. As far as the TL or BB it depends on me what resort you stay at. If or kids love the resort pool we are staying at we just hang out there but we do plan on going to BB on our next trip.

Re: Should we go to the water parks and DTD?
We stayed for 10 days last year and went to both water parks 4 times, total. We usually went in the morning and were done in the water parks by about 1:30-2:00. In May they did not seem crowded at all. They really were a lot of fun.
After the water parks, we went back to the hotel to clean up and relax a bit before heading to another park. They were testing the evening EMH when we were there. Worked out great! We are planning on doing the water parks again this year during our stay. We always do DTD on the last day of our trip. Browse the shops, eat a late lunch and hang out at Disney Quest until we have to leave for the airport. Being you are going for 10 days, try to set aside time to hit atleast one of the water parks and DTD. You will be glad that you did!

Re: Should we go to the water parks and DTD?
We always do DTD on the way in on the first day, and always catch a water park (or 2) before we leave. The lines shouldn't be bad when you are going. Your next problem is which water park to pick? Tough one!

The Disney water parks and DTD to me are a must. When our family visits WDW we do not souvenir shop at the parks, we hit DTD near the last day to do our shopping. Also, downtown has some great places to eat. Don't miss it.
