WDW interested in hosting NFL Draft

Disney officials have told the National Football League they would be interested in hosting the annual NFL draft at Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex. The league previously has expressed interest in moving the draft out of New York City.

Disney has pitched holding the draft at the Wide World of Sports' Milkhouse, a 5,500-seat multipurpose fieldhouse. Considering that the draft is televised by ESPN, which is owned by Disney, the idea has some merit.

I like that idea. The draft is highly watched, and it could be one giant ad for Disney.

Good point. I bet there's a lot of people who don't know about WDW.

Seriously, you're right. It is a good PR move for the Mouse.

And Mickey Mouse and gang could be up on stage shaking the hands of all the draft picks. That alone would definitely make it more interesting.

I am a die hard NFL fan and even I can't stand watcing the draft. To me its like watching grass grow. I tune in every once and a while to see who my team(The Jacksonville Jaguars) picks.

Re: WDW interested in hosting NFL Draft

That is a good idea.

I personally would like to see the NFL Draft hosted by all the cities in which there are teams on a rotating basis, kind of like the Superbowl.

Re: WDW interested in hosting NFL Draft

Much to DW's chagrin, I would use this as another excuse to go to WDW.

If Disney and the NFL pull this off, I have one question. Would it be considered un-Disneylike behavior for the Jets or Eagles fans in attendance to boo their 1st round pick. I remember the 1999 draft when Donovan McNabb was given a warm Philadelphia welcome by the Eagles faithful. And the Jets fans? I remember the chorus of Bronx cheers in the 2000 draft when the name "Bubba Franks" was being chanted and Shaun Ellis was taken instead. Hanging with these fans would be worth the price of admission for me.

Hey, DH: I could be talked into going, if the draft was there!
