Wishes is more of a traditional fireworks show where 98% of the show is fireworks. (the other 2% is Tinkerbell) IllumiNations also uses a diamond-vision full-color globe, fire, lasers and lights to support the fireworks and has a much more global feel to it, as the name would imply. A Disney purist would probably suggest that Wishes is the better show b/c MK has a longer tradition of fireworks. But for a more technologically sophisticated show, IllumiNations would be the choice. IOW, it depends on what you like.

I personally love Illuminations, but I would think they do special fireowrks for the forth...ive never been...so i wish i could help!

We go every summer and we've seen Wishes, Illuminations, and Fantasmic several times. They are all great.
I am wondering what is different/special about the 4th shows. I know MGM has a fireworks show separate from Fantasmic on that day- how's that? Thanks again.

Did you guys know that the reason 4th of July fireworks exist is because it's my birthday on the 5th? It's something America does the night before to ring in my birth.

I would think that the Magic Kingdom would be THE place to watch the fireworks on the 4th!

We watched them at MK last year and it was sooooo different to wishes! They stop the trains early and have fireworks all around the parks. They went on sooo long it was great!
It's a great way to mark the night before Empress Jenny's birth!
