Disney Quest Question

Wanting to experience all that Disney has to offer, or at least what intrests us, we are planning a day at Disney Quest. We have always likes video games, played a lot when younger but still get out the nintendo from time to time.

Disney Quest sounds like fun. We just received a guidemap to Disney Quest and it looks like 5 floors of fun. Anyone done this? Liked it or not? Favorite things to do there?

We figure if it doesn't hold our intrest well, we will just have to shop !

Any info appreciated!

Re: Disney Quest Question

We went last November and loved it. Our boys, both11, loved it more. It's not just video games.
It's got, among other rides, a virtual Pirate ride and a virtual water raft ride. You can create and then ride your own roller coaster, learn how to draw cartoons, play arcade games. There is a ride in huge bumper cars which shoot balls at other cars, the name escapes me, had something to do with Buzz Lightyear, and so, so much more.
It's a great place to spend a few hours.

Isn't it though? We bought the Video tape of the ride and I love looking at those two boys having a blast. I only wished they had DVDs instead of VHS. I don't enjoy looking at tapes anymore. Spoiled, I know.

So just burn it to a DVD... I know, I know, a lot harder than it sounds. Do you have a TV card for your computer (I'm assuming you have a DVD burner, too!)? Just jack the VCR into your computer, and, using ULead's VideoMaker, you can download the movie onto your machine, add music, etc. Pretty much whatever you want. Then, using their MovieMaker, you can burn it all to DVD. Both apps are free to download and use for 30 days.

You could use Microsoft MovieMaker, which comes with XP, but I don't recommend it. It formats your movies to 640x480, which, when shown on your TV, is VERY pixellated and looks crappy. ULead's apps don't do that, and are awesome. LOVE THEM.

Yes, it does take some time, but it is well worth it. If you have any questions, just PM or e-mail me. I can definitely help you!

Now, back to the thread: The rollercoaster thing is just awesome. However, the CM running it might question the person who created the ride, if he thinks that it might be too much for that rider. You just have to be kinda careful about how much you're putting into the design, because people have gotten sick on it--and it's something that they designed themselves! LOL!

The pirates game is too cool, too. It kind of reminds me of the VMK pirates game. They're not totally alike, but still....

Jeanny, if I understand your question, I am a little dopey today, it doesn't cost anything if you have Parktickets with all the extra things like BB or TL and DQ.
But if you want to buy a ticket it's around $36.00, I believe. Once inside, all is yours.

Re: Disney Quest Question

DQ is a blast. My 9 yr old DS loved it. He could have stayed all day. We had a great time building and riding our roller coasters. He made a CD and created his own song. He built his own toy. We were able to purchase the toy and cd with the song. The virutal games were great. You will have a great time there.

Re: Disney Quest Question

I'm a big fan Disney Quest, it's not unusual for me to spend 5+ hours there everyday during a vacation to WDW.
When you enter Disney Quest, everyone takes the Cybrolator (elevator) to the third floor. On the first floor you will not want to miss the Virtual Pirates of the Caribbean game and the Virtual Jungle Cruise - both are a lot of fun, particularly Pirates. On the second floor you'll probably want to try Cyberspace Mountain. I know many people who love that ride, I enjoyed when I rode it. However, I got sick after my first and only time riding and haven't been on since (but I tend to get motion sickness).
The third floor is personally my favorite floor. That floor houses arcade games such as: fighting games, racing games, there is also an area of the best classic games. The third floor also houses Buzz Lightyear's AstroBlaster, which is basically enclosed bumper cars with canons that shoot "asteroids" (brown soccer balls). The fourth floor is home to all the sports-related games. There is also an area on this floor that costs extra to play since you play for prizes. The fifth floor has the Alien Encounter game which I enjoy. There are also a few arcade games up there as well.

Re: Disney Quest Question

I was very dissapointed with Disney Quest. Now the kids loved it, bu there wasnt much to do for adults in my opinion. The Pirate ride was tops by far.

Re: Disney Quest Question

Mu entire family LOVES DQ. We have so much fun there, and it is a must every trip. I love all the virtual reality games--especially the make your own coaster. The Pirates game and Jungle cruise are also fun. WE also like the Aladdin virtual reality game. DH and I also love to play the classic arcade games and the kids like skee ball. There is definitely something for everyone as long as you like video games. Your family will love it!

Re: Disney Quest Question

DQ is great fun, but at $30+ a ticket sometimes I don't know if its worth it.
There are lots of cool things inside, from classic arcade games to virtual games.
Then theres the create zone, where you can create toys and songs oh and of course virtual space mountain.
I do have to say that it is up to the person, since I don't know that I could spend a whole day at DQ. Plus with no free re-entry, you have to think about if you want to leave for food. They have a cafe there, but I've never really looked at the menu.
I always go about an hour or two before it closes and only pay half price. It may be too late for most kids, but for teens its a good idea.
So weigh in the factors, it is tons of fun but its basically a large arcade.
With the arcade machines, since you've paid admission, they're all on freeplay. In other words you can wait a LOOOONG time for one kid to get off a machine you'd like to play. Some things like skeeball cost extra, only if you want to win prizes, I think there were just free skeeball games. OH and its easy to get lost with all the little areas, so make sure to know the layout of DQ.
These were just some points to think about, like I said it's great and I go by myself, but with a family I'd try and go on a slow day.

Re: Disney Quest Question

DQ is a must! I have to admit that when we first cam about DQ ( when it first opened...my DH really wanted to go in there. I assumed it wsa all video games....yawn yawn snooze....but it really wasn't. There is something for everyone in there and it really is a blast. I loved the build your own coaster and the art of disney drawing part. I also played loads of the video games too...mor so than DH in the end!!!! I am sure you will enjoy it
