From WDW to the Beach

What is the best beach to head to on a "relax day" during a trip to WDW?

It will be myself, DH, and two sons (3 and 5) so we would like family friendly option. Is there a state park where there is restroom and snack facilities?

Thanks!

Re: From WDW to the Beach

You have alot of choices!

I'll give you the East Coast options, becuase that's what I personally know.

1. Daytona Beach - definitely family friendly. A quick jump on 1-4 to 92 and it will take you right to the beach. Turn left on A1A and you can park in the Ocean Walk parking garage, and you'll have a run of restaurants, etc. and quick access to the beach!

2. St. Augustine - a MUCH longer drive, but the town is just about perfect.

Here's the Ocean Walk in Daytona Beach.

Janice, hi--you haven't been here for a while. You only have 70 days........go pack the bags before Dana comes along and questions your sanity.

Sorry, no info on beaches.

Re: From WDW to the Beach

St. Augustine is farther than we want to go for a day trip - especially since we want it to be a rest day.

We usually go to Charleston for a few days several times during the summer but I told my husband we should skip one of those and just drive on to WDW. If I can get a beach day in there some way I might be able to convince him! But, it has to really be a beach day with actual playing in the sand and getting in the water, not just seeing the beach.

Oh and Dopey, I'm always around, I just don't post a lot! Preschool ended last week for my boys and I have made it my summer mission to get the youngest potty-trained. So, we're having...fun, yeah, ummm... fun!

Well, you can definitely play in the sand in Daytona - but, it's really a personal choice!

I hope you find what you're looking for!

Re: From WDW to the Beach

Clearwater is only about 45 minutes west on Route 4. DH and I have been there a few times. Very family friendly beaches. There is a state park, Sand Key Park. We renewed our vowes on the beach there. It is not very big, but very nice.
