Suggestions Needed

Any ideas?

We will be coming to WDW in December... The first night we get there we will arrive at the airport at 4:50 and I figure that by the time we get to the motel and get to the room it will be around 7pm at the earliest.

We will not be getting park tickets for that night. We will be staying at the GF and need suggestions on what to do that night.

Is the boardwalk open that late at night or already closed down? We will have three children and the rest adults. Any ideas as to where to spend the first night with the kids?

Thanks for the help

Re: Suggestions Needed

I would plan dinnar to have dinner at Downtown Disney and after that you can shop as long as you like. DtD is free and there are several restaurant to pick from, my personal favorite is Earl of Sandwich, yum...

The boardwalk is another good idea. You can eat at either Disney's Beach Club Resort or at the Boardwalk then walk around for a couple of hours. Jellyrolls os fun for the over 21 members of your group.

Re: Suggestions Needed

Why not just enjoy the hotel pool and look around the resort, ride the monorail over to contempory and maybe eat at chef mickeys if it isn't too late.

Re: Suggestions Needed

I completely agree with DisneyTeacher. DTD can be a whole night's entertainment. Earl of Sandwich is the best deal at WDW and the sandwiches are wonderful! Or you could eat at Rainforest Cafe. The food's only average, but the atmosphere will sure get you in the mood for Disney!

Re: Suggestions Needed

DTD gets my vote as well. The Boardwalk is fun, but there is a lot more to see and do at DTD. I also agree with The Earl of Sandwich for a quick dinner - their sandwichs are the bomb!!! I'm craving the turkey with cranberry sauce as we speak (and it's only 8am - but I'm pregnant and allowed to have weird cravings, right??). For a sit down meal Rainforest is fun, especially for the kids, but the food isn't anything to write home about and last time we were there it took us over an hour to get our food after we ordered it. If the kids are up for it, Wolfgang Puck was also a good choice. Hope that helps!

I agree with the bug. Your paying a ton of $$$ for that resort. You'll be rushed to do things all week. Why not make the first night relaxing and enjoy that great pool at GF.

Re: Suggestions Needed

Hmm, Dowtown Disney is always a good first or last day choice in my book!

But, I agree about just exploring the resort a bit. The GF is so big and gorgeous, I am sure you occupy yourselves there all night. Taking a swing on the monorail is a great idea too to get you all pumped for your stay and see all of Bay Lake. I am not sure if you can see the Electrical Water Pageant from the GF but that is always a good option too!

Re: Suggestions Needed

I would have dinner at one of the monorail resorts and then relax at the pool or explore the resort. It seems as though there is never enough time in a trip to explore the resort fully. This would give you time to enjoy the GF.

Another vote for dinner and relaxing by the pool or exploring the resort. Get a good dinner and some rest for next day.

That was going to be my suggestion. Nothing like eating at O'Hana's to get the trip kicked off in the right direction!

Re: Suggestions Needed

Since you are arriving so late, why not make a late night dinner and just relax? You can grab dinner at O'hanna and then maybe watch wishes from the beach. You will be warmed up and ready to start your first full day bright and early. Take the first night to settle in and relax.
