Re: Fishing trips in WDW

My husband and DD have gone twice on Bay Lake. The pick you up at any of the monorail resort. Both times we stayed at the Poly and the picked them up there. You go out on a pontoon. Both times they enjoyed it and caught fish. They went at 7 AM, but there are other times. I think you can do fishing trips at other resorts that have marinas, but I do not know which ones. When they went I think the price was around $200.00 for the time they were out 2 maybe 2 1/2 hours. I think the pricing has changed to per person rate.

Re: Fishing trips in WDW

I've read mixed reviews over the excursions. I guess it comes down to how much of a hard core fisherman your DH is. Can he be satisfied with the price if the fish aren't biting?

Re: Fishing trips in WDW

That price really does seem very steep- my boys are avid fishermen, er , fisherboys. I don't think my older son would want me to spend that much for a 2 1/2 hour trip. I went deep sea fishing in Alaska for less than that...

Re: Fishing trips in WDW

I guess $200 is crazy!! I think he rather do the nascar driving for that price. Besides my dad owns a party boat pontoon so he can really go fishing anytime..

Re: Fishing trips in WDW

Ooooo! Watch that Richard Petty Nascar deal. They do not offer refunds from weather. If you by it and the weather is not cooperative, you will only get a voucher that must be used within 12 months. In other words, they take your money, and if you get rained out and can't return in that same year, you're out several hundred $$$.

A year or two ago someone was complaining that they were stuck with a voucher they would never be able to use.

Re: Fishing trips in WDW

The fishing excursions brochures we got from the Watersports Center at Contemporary look excellent! They said something along th elines of you go out with a bass fisherman on the lake areas behind the Contemporary, where it's all marshy and craggy, and you haul in bass... Give them a call. We discovered the opportunity too late in our vacation to be able to work it into the schedule, but we will do it next time!!!

Re: Fishing trips in WDW

Also one other thing.. the guides were really good. They know where to take you to catch fish. If you have a young kid on board, chances are they will be the first to catch a fish.
It is sort of $$$, my husband loves to fish, he goes on a yearly guys fishing trip to Cananda, we also have a boat.
He likes to do it because it is very relaxing and it is something to do outside of the parks.
Whe you are on the lake you get fantastic views of the MK and monorail resorts.
So if it is something you think he would enjoy and the cost is OK with you, I think it is worth it.
I think $200.00 .....yikes! for fishing! But if it gets DH to commit to another WDW trip then it is worth it!
