Info on boats and marinas at WDW

I was wondering if anyone had any info on what kind of boats we can rent and what Marina is the best to rent from? Is one water area better than another?

Also, how do you reserve these?

Re: Info on boats and marinas at WDW

Where you rent you boat depends on what area you want to tour. My husband and son like to rent at a Magic Kingdom resort and look around Bay Lake. We have also been out on boats in the Epcot/MGM area and it was also fun. No reservation needed, you just need a resort ID or driver license.

This is a sample of boat rental rates from Downtown Disney

Water Mouse: $20.75 - 1/2 hour

21' Suntracker Pontoon Boat(Maximum 10 passengers): $33.02 - 1/2 hour

Canopy Boat (8 person maximum): $25.00 - 1/2 hour

Cane Pole Fishing: $ 3.77 1/2 hr

Specialty Cruise (12 person maximum) starts at $120.00

Guided Bass Fishing (live bait additional) - Maximum 5 persons; $183.96 for 2 hours at 6:30am; $174.52 for 2 hours at 9:00am

We rented them at the Contemporary Resort and they're a lot of fun. Just keep in mind the boats are very under powered. I'm sure they do this for safety reasons but don't expect to be flying around the lake with the Florida air blowing in your face. You'll be lucky to get a gentle breeze with that motor.

I would rent from one of the three monorail resorts: Poly, Contemp or Grand Floridian. That way you can buzz around the bay. It appears to be the best place.

I agree also... We were on our honeymoon and rented from the poly, the CM was nice enough to give us "xtra time" that day since he said that he saw us get married there 2 days before...

Re: Info on boats and marinas at WDW

If you rent from the Contemporary, you can see some cool stuf fin teh back bay... like the sneaker tree, the old River Country, plus the old Discovery Island. Not to mention seeing lots of wildlife on all those swampy islands!

Re: Info on boats and marinas at WDW

We have rented at the Poly, GF, CBR, and Yacht Club. By far the best water is the lake by the Magic Kingdom, which you would access from the Poly or GF.

We really like the water mice. DW, DD and I each get our own and just go out and have a blast for 1/2 an hour. We did rent one of the larger boats once, but as mentioned they are way under powered.

Enjoy!

Re: Info on boats and marinas at WDW

We have rented from both the Y&B and the Contemporary. Of the 2, I would go to the Contemporary (GF, Poly, WL) resorts. It was a lot of fun tooling around Bay lake, the old Discovery Island and being round the MK.

Re: Info on boats and marinas at WDW

You can get to both lakes via canal at the end opposite the Magic Kingdom.

All of the boats have the same 9.9hp engines (Fla renting/boating law) so the little 2 passenger boats are the fastest. But they seem even faster as are close to the water.

Discounts for AP and DVC members.

Re: Info on boats and marinas at WDW

Thanks everyone for your info as always! We will be staying at the Poly, so I will probably rent them there. I see there is a certificate offer for the Sea Raycers in my package which is an added bonus!
