I just had a conversation the other day with a non Disney lover, and he was quite impressed when I told him about PI. He thought it was all little kids stuff. I don't want to eat crow, so I hope they replace it with something worthwhile.

I can't say I'm too dissapointed; I only went to PI three times, and only once did I actualy enjoy myself (I made new friends that day and went just to the Adventurer's Club that night; fun place!) I'm not a big party girl, and I'm not a fan of seeing kids get smashed, let alone at Disney, so I'm cool with Disney's change.

Still wondering how "bold" this new vision can be; I don't see more shopping centers as bold.

Other than passing through, Sandy and i have never been into PI. We are just old "Fuddy Duddies".

But i do remember when it first opened, it was *Hot*. It's sort of a shame that it got to the point of having to be shut down.

Article said this, "Walt Disney World Resort announced on June 27 that it will be completely re-imagining the Downtown Disney area, with new shopping, dining and other experiences, including a completely re-imagined Pleasure Island.>

Does anyone know any specifics with shows like Cirque, and restaurants, etc.

I was never a fan of the clubs.. just not my thing, but I'd hate to see the entire place change, although I guess it has over the years. I've been going since the '70's.

If you are asking about the current Cirque no effect there. Pleasure Island Is the middle part between the Fulton Crab House on end and the Movie theaters on the other end (more or less). That is only part that will be greatly affected. Even then not all of it. For example Raglan Road will still be there unchanged. Portobello Yacht Club will be changing its menu and name. It will still be Italian.

The only other changes are mostly cosmetic. I.E building a shell over an expanded stage in the Market Place and Wolfgangs get an interior update.

Terrific. I enjoy seeing and re-seeing Cirque.

I'd say call and ask when the actual closing is going to be before you decide what you're doing.

I only just found this out! I was looking on Allears re closures etc and saw that from Sept 27th all clubs in PI will shut for good. Now I never really utilised the clubs to be totally honest but I did enjoy a few of them over the years ( mainly pre being a momma! ). I think it's a bit of a shame really.
