What a great story! Your child is very fortunate to have such a teacher. I'll bet your DD has the most memorable trip of all thanks to the teacher's creativity.

Re: Missing school for WDW

Now that we solved the homework/missing school mess; would you believe last night a friends dog attacked my daughter which resulted in 5 hours in ER and 4 stitches on her face? She's OK but very very tramatized and in pain. She's in bed now resting and yes, had to miss school today.

Oh, that's terrible. Hope she recovers quickly, both physically and emotionally.

Re: Missing school for WDW

I'm so sorry about your daughter. I had a dog nip at me when I was little and I was terrified of dogs for years. Hopefully, she will get past it. Luckily, she has the weekend to recover.

OMG!! i am so sorry about your DD.

prayers & pixie dust she gets to feeling better very soon.

wait!! i don't need to send pixie dust...she will be all around magic & pixie dust in only a couple of days!! :o)

pop in a disney movie, give her some tylenol, and a sweet treat...maybe let her sleep in your bed with you tonight...stay up and giggle and play games.....get her mind off the dog incident and totally on disney!

((hugs)) for both you & your DD

Re: Missing school for WDW

Thank you all for being so nice. The cut itself doesn't look too bad but the mental part of it is really doing a job on her. She keeps thinking of scars and is still in alot of pain because it's near her lips so it's hard to talk & eat. Today is my son's bday party with 22 kids at a play place. She doesn't even want to go to that. My heart breaks! The mom of the dog that got her feels terrible. She keeps crying and came by yesterday with a gift bag for my daughter, magazines, a gift card and a card signed by her and the dog.

awww, that's just awful. Yeah, I know the whole mental thing. I'm constantly risking absurdity and get hurt a lot. I'm fine....... until I see the blood. Then I freak. Ew, that would be awful. I hope she has a speedy recovery!

Re: Missing school for WDW

I wish I had a cool teacher like her!! I wish my college professor were like that. HEHE!! The day I come back hom efrom Disney in Dec. is the same night that I have one of my final exams. Talking about cutting it close. HAHA!

So sorry about the accident. I can relate. It is a very scaring thing emotional to go through when your that young, but with a whole lot of love (maybe some of that amazing pixie dust), she will pull through. I can tell that won't be a problem with you.

She won't have to bring books or a laptop. She will have some work when she gets back but mostly reading. The best homework assignment she got was from her science teacher. She created a 5 page package that she calls "The Disney Vacation Packet". There's a s Scavenger Hunt page that has a list of 20 things to find including "Where does Tinker Bell Fly out from"? and "What ride has a fifty foot drop"? She has one part that says, "Upon entering any Disney Park, stop right before the gate & count how many people enter over a 5 min period. Multiply that using the park hrs and the number of gates that are open.....She's now very excited! We will have a wonderful trip in 7 days!!!

This is an AWESOME assignment, it'll not only be fun you your daughter but for the whole family.

Sorry to hear about your daughters dog bite, I hope she's feeling better soon!
