Is John Charles still playing?
Does anyone know if John Charles is still playing some where on WDW property or in the Orlando area? He performed at the Poly in the mid 80s and then moved over to the Empress Lily for several years. He was great with his humor and musical ability. We always made sure to see him several times during each of our visits.
Last I heard, he was playing for conventions at WDW. Anyone know?? |

Finally! Someone who remembers John Charles. He's been gone from the Disney scene for quite awhile now but we still have many great memories of his hilarious shows aboard the Empress Lilly. And Denny Zavett and the Riverboat Rascals before him.
It was a sad day when Disney turned over the Empress Lilly to Fulton's Crab House.

Some of my fondest WDW memories are of spending an evening in the Baton Rouge Lounge. Near the end of his Disney tenure, WDW moved John Charles to one of the resorts (I forget which one) but it just wasn't the same. Shortly thereafter, Disney leased the Empress Lilly to Levy Restaurants of Chicago. The location was renovated and became Fulton's Crab House. Unfortunately, much of the Empress Lilly's original charm was lost in the renovation.
