Well, if I am in DTD, you can find me at Disney's Days of Christmas Shop, Team Mickey Athletic Gear, Mickey's Groove, Ghirdelli's, Rain Forest Cafe or the movie theater (LOVE those balconies). We saw Lilo & Stitch there the week it opened and it was so awesome. There weren't any special events or anything, but knowing we were in Orlando, watching a brand new Disney movie... it was just special.
My kids can be found playing in the water fountains, riding the carousel, or in Once Upon a Toy store. :)

As you have already been informed, DD is a great place for kids and adults!! Shopping, eating, playing!! It is all there!! I really feel my Disney vacation isn't complete if we don't spend the afteroon and evening there. Don't even get me started on Pleasure Island at night - I just love it!!!!:p :heart :p

I think the Rainforest Cafe is open. That might be a fun way to start the morning. According to the Unofficial they open at 10:30 and I'm sure that friends of ours ate breakfast there. You could probably grab something at the Gourmet Pantry - but I heard that it was undergoing renos at the moment.

I'm thinking we may grab something quick (like a bagel or pastry) that morning and then have an early lunch at DTD, shop, and then hang around the resort pool that afternoon. The problem now is there sounds like a lot of great places to eat at there.

Actually, the kids love the interactive fountains... there are 2. One is milder than the other, and more suited to the younger (toddler) set, because the water pressure isn't as high. It is located between the Christmas Shop and the Disney Memories Stores where you would go to get on the bus. The other, larger fountain is in front of Once Upon a Toy. When we did this, DH and I would grab a drink and sit by the fountain while DD played. Make sure you take a change of clothing, though, because the shops are airconditioned and are pretty cold for wet kids.
There is a playground down in front of the Lego Store and the kids love that. You can get lunch from McDonalds and let the kids play for awhile. Next to the Pin Traders store is a small train, and in front of Pooh Corner is a carousel. These do cost extra. In the back outside corner of Pooh Corner near the Marina there is a hair wrap place that is very popular with the girls. You may also rent boats or let the kids fish from the docks at the Marina. The fish must be released, so don't count on taking them back and frying 'em up! In Once Upon a Toy, kids can spend quite a lot of time constructing Mr Potato Head, too. On some weekend nights there is a DJ on the stage across from World of Disney that plays kids favorites like the Hokey Pokey and the Chicken Dance, as well as favorite line dances for everyone to participate. Don't forget to check out the other restaurants while you are there. The counter service restaurants include the aforementioned McDonalds, and Wolfgang Puck Express, and the sitdown restaurants are Cap't Jacks, Fultons and Portobello Yacht Club. For dessert, don't forget Ghiradelli's. Have a great time!:)

I agree with all the above. Sometimes it's good if you can go first thing in the morning. The crowds seems to be less.
After you've done the Playground, by the Lego store, then to Once Upon a Toy, then to McDonald's. You might be ready to head on back to the Resort to let them swim a while, and take a break. Good Luck!! :) JOANN ![]()

Me and my DD love the Once Upon a Toy store. It is awesome. Another one of my favorite shops is the Christmas shop. You can find really great personalized ornaments there for under $10. They make great gifts. I honestly go there for the pure joy of shopping, but intend to try out Disney Wuest this time around. It sounds like a blast. You can easily spend the afternoon or morning there. Me and Sara spent three hours just shopping.

We made several trip to DTD last week. We ate at McDonald's and Planet Hollywood and had candy from the Candy Caldron. We spent so much time at the House of Blues gift shop that one of the CM recognized DH (he loves that place). We tried to eat there Friday night but were unhappy to find it closed for a private party. We went in DQ but it was so crowded....The food at PH was just OK but the atmosphere was so fun and the people working there were so very nice.
We bought a CD of the Cirque show "Allegria" at their gift shop since we saw it a year ago. We bought gifts at the World of Disney and had fun watching the children at Legoland. ![]()

Wow!
I definitely do not have enough time set aside for DTD.
How late are the shops open? Does it feel safe enough, lighting security, bus stop or parking lot, that I could return late in the evening by myself for some uniterrupted shopping? I am thinking that maybe one night after dinner DH will take the kids back to the room while I wear the numbers off the shiny new credit card! |

IIRC, DTD is open fairly late (the exact time eludes me) maybe midnight....:nervous
if you are willing to tag along with the kids (or are a big kid, yourself) may I suggest DisneyQuest. It's a kids heaven, an (almost) all free arcade!!! (and don't miss all the 3-d stuff, and Cyber Mountain) Yzma
