What do you do at Downtown Disney

What are some of your favorite things to do at DD. We are considering doing a nonpark day and have never been to DD. Our kids are 4 and 6. Are there things there that they would enjoy?

I don't know about spending a WHOLE day at DTD, but there are definitely a few hours you could kill there!

First of all, there are GREAT shops of all kinds, there!!! There are lots of restaurants, too. They would probably most like the big McDonalds or Rainforest Cafe! There is also Ghiardelli's Cafe that has some of the best desserts on property!!! The chocolate shake is to die for!!! (especially if you are a chocoholic, like me!)There is also the Lego Imagination store, that has a huge Lego playground that all the kids can play on!!! And don't forget about Disney Quest...the indoor interactive theme park!!! It is lots of fun!!!! And if you want to relax the night away, there is the BIG AMC theater, that houses at least 20 movies at a time!!! There is LOTS to do at DTD, but like I said, I don't know about spending an ENTIRE day there! I could see spending all afternoon into dinner, though!!! :dazed

Trust me, most kids would go absolutely gaga over the Lego store! And there's enough merchandise in the World of Disney store to keep ME occupied for hours!!!

I wouldn't devote a whole day, but a few hours...:) There's plenty to see and do!

We always go after all the parks have closed for the day. We usually don't eat dinner down there since most of the restaurants at DTD don't accept PS's. We really enjoy the World of Disney (p.s. don't take a stroller in this place....I've found this store is always PACKED...very hard to manuver;) ) we also fell in love with Once upon a Toy.....they have a great assortment of stuffed animals (much more than The world of Disney). My son loves Team Mickey and Lego, too. There are fountains to splash in (like at EPCoT) and a very upscale art store (I don't let my kids go in this store....too many temptations that I don't want to have to pay for after they sweep it up!!) The Christmas store is great and there is a HUGE pin store (if you are a collector....be careful....I let hubby and son go in while DD played on the playground and he came out with over $200 in pins:nooo: !!)

Also, like the others said, there is a movie theater, and a McDonalds...but I just never do those because I can do both of those things at home.

DTD is broken up in to 3 areas.....The Marketplace, where the disney themed (and other) merchandise can be found. West Side where you can find Disney Quest (which I've heard you can spend all day in!!) House of Blues, Virgin Megastore, etc. and Pleasure Island (nightclubs and bars).

Check out All Ears Net for more information about all the things you can do at Downtown Disney. Don't forget to follow all the links on the left side of the page.

In my opinion, the one thing not to be missed at Downtown Disney (West Side, actually) is Cirque du Soleil. Tickets are pricey, but the show is something you will never forget. You won't regret spending the money.

I think everyone covered about all there is to do at DD. We love going and spending a few hours looking through the shops. My DS (5) loved the lego store and the toy store. He spent a few hours enjoying both but he was ready for a Happy Meal and something new to do. Kids can only shop for so many hours and then they need something else to do.

I love DD and go there at least twice every trip for a few hours each time.

BDavis, many of the restaurants now take PS's!! (I know Fulton's and House of Blues do in particular!)

There is also an AMC movie theater in DtD. I have never seen a movie there, but I heard during a premiere of a movie the animators sometimes showup. I read somewhere that during the credits each one stands up when his or her name appears.

We love to spend time walking through the shop and eating at HOB. We usually go to DtD on our first night at WDW and again on the morning we leave to get last minute shopping.

How cool would that be?? I would love to be there for a premiere of a Disney movie.

Once Upon a Toy was one of DGD faborites. She was able, for a fairly reasonable price, to get a box and stuff it with as many Mr. Potato Head parts as she could! She loved the "World of Disney" and spent at least an hour at the "Lego" store. the fountains were fun too! I think DQ is a blast, DH and I both had so much fun. Be careful on those river rapids though, I lost my cell phone! We ate at Bongo's and it was good...not great. This trip I am definitely going to Ghilradelli's.

I would stop by Disney Quest and do the Pirates of the Carribean game. They might be a little young for most of the arcade games, but my 4 year old LOVED shooting the cannons at the Pirate Ships. Plus if you have a length of stay or park hopper tickets, it's free!

Our DS loves to play at the Lego store and when it's warm out in the 2 ground fountains. We've taken him to Disney Quest also and he had fun. Last time we were there they had Radio Disney at the toy store and were showing new toys. DS got a Radio Disney sticker, poster and a small toy from the DJ. He always has fun posing with the different statues. :)

Once Upon a Toy is one of those rarities at WDW. You can find reasonably priced toys and they have great sales. If you're getting tired of telling your kids, "no, that's too much money", this is one place where you'll probably find something. If you're taking a break from the parks, then go to DD in the morning. Absolutely no crowds.

With kids 4 & 6, plan on three hours at Lego Land or don't let them see it.
