February 1st, 2004, Super Bowl Sunday

All,
I am taking a family trip to DW relatively shortly, but I am having one problem. I will be there during the Super Bowl and do not want to miss it!

I am 22 years old, and this is the first time I would have been to DW "of age". I did my research, and my friend I am taking with me and I have decided that we would like to go to Pleasure Island, as we here it is "off the hook". However, I am a little worried they will not have the Super Bowl on.

Does anyone have any information that can confirm or deny this? I have called the DW Entertainment telephone number, and left a message, now I am just awaiting a call back.

Also, I am wondering, what is "BW" when you refer to ESPN Club? Worst case scenario, I'll have to not go to Pleasure Island this year, and just go to ESPN to watch the game. But I would rather hear that PI will be doing something special.

BW is boardwalk==the hotel between epcot and mgm. You can walk to the espn club from epcot near france, or take a boat from mgm. I don't know about a boat from epcot to there, but it is really close.

ps

Welcome to DC~~:)

I am not aware of any sports clubs at PI. The dance clubs would not have tvs on for the Super Bowl.

ESPN would be the best place to go because they have the giant-sized tv screen in the main room. They do not take PS ressies there. You stand in line to get seated. Special games such as the Super Bowl draw the crowds in, so get there early to get a seat in the main viewing room.

Other places that will have the game on are The All-Star Cafe restaurant at Wide World of Sports and the tvs in the hotel lounges/bars.

I'd say get there early too. We watched the Monday night game at ESPN Club we watched the Eagles play the Packers it was standing room only and that was just a regular game. The next game Sunday against the Giants we watched at the Crew Cup in the Yacht Club. It's a nice quiet bar that had a big TV and places to sit, even a couch. People even brought there own munchies and nobody said anything to them. I'd try ESPN it's sure to have the best goings on. Here's there menu and phone number I'd give them a call to see what's going on that day.

Agreeing with everyone else. The ESPN Club would be great, but I could just imagine the crowds. You would have to get there very very early. Other choices, would be Disney Resorts, in the lounges. CSR has an area with a TV in their lounge. A Margarita, and some naucho's, what more could one want!!! :) JOANN

Last year the All-Stars had special doings for the Super Bowl. They closed off the section by the big screen tv for this. I think there was a food package/beer pricing for this event.

I agree with going to ESPN. Go there and watch the game and enjoy a great meal. We have eaten there several times and have never been disappointed with the food. After the game hit PI and enjoy the clubs. The Super Bowl is over pretty early, PI is open until 2 am I think. Have fun!!

super bowl

When I was at disney with about 30 family and friends the guys all wanted to watch some ball game. We tried to make PS at ESPN--No GO :(
Everyone ended up at our resorts (The Swan) pool cabana bar. They had like 6 TVs and tables, chairs, food and drinks. It was great. Those of us not into the game swam and visited.

TIP- call ESPN Club directly when you get there and ask if there is anything special going on there during your stay. They have guests etc..Maybe you'll luck into something good!

Years ago during a visit to WDW a few of us went to Pleasure Island one night to find a line waiting to get in. The island had been closed for a private party and was opening to the public at 8p.m.. We arrived at about 8.
It was the NFLs (I think) 25th anniversary party! Since we arrived just at 8pm we saw a lot of people leaving the island. Frank, Al and Dan and all kinds of players. If I was into them and knew who they all were it would have been very exciting.
When we finally got on the island there were still many players around, especially in the Jazz club. You could see them a mile away-they were all sooooo big! Many of the Globe Trotters were there for the celebration also, they were also a no brainer to pick out of the crowd!
PS- Go Patriots!!:D

ESPN super bowl

Yea...I guess most guys would love the ESPN Club....IF, and it is a BIG IF you can get in...on a regular Sunday game you are lucky to get in. They open at noon...to a line!
Good Luck. I would have a "plan 2" in case.
