New Construction?

While we were at WDW this past weekend we saw some construction and wondered what it was. We asked the WDW bus drivers and got 3 different answers:dazed The area is sorta across from the Pop Century. If you turn off of Osceola onto Victory it is just before you get to Pop Century. Any inside info?

That construction is the other half of Pop Century - the Legendary Years.

This was on the west side of Victory Way, didnt look big enough for a resort. I did see the building shells on the East side of Victory, which I assumed was the rest of Pop C. One driver said they were laying pipes and wires, another said an access road, the other said a utility area. I suppose the drivers were confused.

while tecnically they were all correct.

there are 3 constuction zones along that side of the road.

the first one is all the way on the south end of victory way, right at the conner of the Ocesola parkway. this is going to be a new entry to mgm, if you look it widens out enough for a toll booth, also it is rummored it will become a exit to the ocesola parkway where there is a opening just west of victory way. unsure when this entrance will be open.

the second zone is utility construciton some type of problem haven't really heard too much about it.

the third zone is the wires and pipes, they are running them for the bonnet creek construction project, they have to tap into the power and sewer lines and all that.

What's the reason for the new MGM entrance? Is Disney not happy with the current entrance, or is this going to be a 2nd entrance? New parking lot? What, what, what? :D

That would really mess up the whole configuration of the park. Would you still enter onto Hollywood Blvd.? If not, where would it ener the park at? This would really mess up the ferry service from Epcot/resorts to MGM-Studios. Would those still run?

hang on there, this does not mean a new parking lot this would just be a new entrance to the current parking lot. the current entrance is ok but the exit could use some work. however I'm now hearing conflicting rummors as to weather this will be a guest entrance or something else. Time will tell though.

OK well i am not sure about all that. I did notice that the side of the parking lot where the buses enter is all torn up. I am sure that they are repaving that part of the parking lot. I would imagine it would be a guest enterance considering the current bus enterance seems to work well. I wonder if they would allow PC busses to enter the new enterance since it would be soooo close for them??

That makes sense. A second entrance would probably ease some of the congestion at the front entrance. Thanks for the info.

What is going on there?? Is it close to DD Westside (near Cirwue du Soleil: La Nouba) that is a reasort going in there. The other side of DD also has a resort going in there too. They sure are filling that area up.

Across from DD and PI are the second or third buildings of phase one of the Saratoga Springs Resort. It is a DVC club resort. I know this because we have a dvc membership and Saratoga Springs is our home resort. The first part of phase one is finished and scheduled to open in mid-May with a big welcome home celebration and then the second section of buildings will open in july and third section of buidings in aug. or sept. If phase one sells well or sells out, then there will be a phase two and three in 2005 and 2006. At least, that's what our dvc membership packet states. I hope that helps.

I don't know that yet, I do know that Vero Beach is almost sold out and the Beach club is sold out, so the only DVC being sold at this point is SSR. In the DVC newsletters, they haven't given us any info on how many memberships in SSR have been sold, but I do know from talking to a lot of "neighbors" there have been a lot, but Phase 1 is pretty substantial, so I don't know what the goal to be met is before they go for the start of Phase 2. I do hope that it goes well, because I would like to see SSR expand. It looks like it will be beautiful. I won't get to see it until Oct. 2004. However, I did read on Mouseplanet.com that they will not commit to Eagle Pines (the next big DVC resort project) until they see how well the entire SSR memberships sell. Well, that's the word I heard.
