Heading From Tampa

WERE FLYING INTO TAMPA AND HEADING TO DISNEY 2 DIFFERENT TIMES WHILE WERE THERE. ONCE TO UNIVERSAL AND ONE TO TYPHOON LAGOON. I WAS WONDERING IF ANYONE HAS ANY TIPS. INSTEAD OF DRIVING BACK AND FORTH WE COULD SPEND THE NIGHT IN ORLANDO BUT WOULD LIKE TO BE CLOSE TO UNIVERSAL CITY WALK WITHOUT PAYING THE BIG BUCKS. ANY TIPS WOULD BE GREAT. WERE FROM SAINT JOHN NB AND ARE REALLY EXCITED ABOUT OUR TRIPS WILL BE THERE 04/11/04-05/09/04

Welcome to DC. I'm sorry I have no idea of off-site hotels that are close for you. Hopefully someone who has been to Universal will be able to answer soon. I just wanted to take a second to welcome you to the site.

HHHmmmmm not sure how close to Universal you are looking for. But.... I love the Holiday Inn Family Suites Resort. The employees are near Disney quality and it is a 10 minute ride to Universal. Rates are wonderful for everything you get. Tons of space, great pools, wonderful resturaunts on-site, FREE HOT BREAKFAST, and very close to a back enterance to Disney.

Welcome to DC!

The ride from Tampa will take you about 60-100+ minutes depending on traffic, construction, and how you drive. It's not a terrible drive, but there are SO many inexpensive places to stay in Orlando that you might as well stay out there.

There are TONS of hotels and plenty of competition. If you want to get a basic idea, go to a site like travelocity.com and do an attraction area hotel search around Universal Studios. Just pay attention to how far the distances are.

Wishing you lots of luck with your planning.

By the way, is NB New Brunswick, Canada? Or am I just confused.

In either case, WELCOME! :)

Thank you for the Help, New Brunswick Canada is on the east Coast about an hour from the border of Main.

Don't know the actual name of the Holiday Inn but theres one RIGHT across the street from UO. It has a huge TGI Fridays on the ground floor and it is right across the street from the Universal parking garage, I have walked - ran really - across the street, it is 6 lanes...
But it is right there, not just nearby.
The Radison is pretty close and may be a little cheaper, but the Holiday Inn was a real good price for how close it was.

Expect travel slowdowns during your ride from Tampa. A considerable amount of I-4 between Tampa and just west of Disney is under construction. I'd try to make that trip as few times as possible.
