DisneyQuest

We are going to visit WDW for the second time since 2000 next month-mid May.

Since our flight arrives at 11 am we'll probably be able to check into our resort, POFQ, by 1 or 1:30 pm.

We're thinking about spending the afternoon and early pm at DisneyQuest, we'll save our passes for full days at the parks. We've never been to DQ before but thought it would be a fun splurge for myself, husband, and children ages 12 (girl) and 10 (boy).

I'm thinking that it should be fairly hassle-free since we can take the boat from POFQ to DD and there are restaurants inside of DQ.... and we'd get to bed by a decent hour to visit the parks Monday EARLY am..

I've hear that the place gets pretty crazy:dazed later in the pm, but I'm wondering how bad (busy) it could be on a Sunday night when the local children will probably have to be in school the next day (May 17). Any thoughts on this?

Your kids sound the perfect age for this. Since you are scheduling plenty of time there, you should be able to see and do all you want. I think you should go for it!! Have a great time!
By the way, welcome to DisneyCentral!! Hope you love it here! :)

Welcome,

That sounds like a great idea. You should have plenty of time.

We also took the boat for POR to get there. It worked out really good.

We took the boat from POR and did the DQ thing as well and it sounds like you are alloting plenty of time to do the entire experience. It should not be as crowded on a Sunday when a lot of the local kids have to go to school the next day and the travelers are planning to leave or leaving.

We did DQ and there is a lot to do there. Make sure you try the human pinbal game where you are the virtual ball. It is great exercise and lots of fun, especially if you win like my DD did. Also try the virtual rafting, it is an absolute blast. We were laughing our heads off, even though we were sucked into a waterfall and died. It was great. You have to try it.

HEy Voban!
Welcome to the Dc and all that but I've got to say how did you pick that screen name??
I'm sitting here looking at that name and laughin, sorry.
I've just had many a protein spill and always got out the Voban!

Anyways DQ should be fine, on sundays it should be fairly quiet, but then again I can't be too sure. Sunday is one of the days that people love flying in, so many folks may have the same ideas. Just like since you are flying in, don't go to MK on mondays, it's the first park everyone goes to.
You have to think that Disney is on a different schedule, what are weekends to you don't normally apply. You want a nice quiet evening for DQ try mid week.
I'm not trying to crush your plans or anything, but sundays are generally heavy flight days. SO DQ will get hectic with folks flyin in.
Oh when you do go, have a plan and meeting place. Even though it's one building it's huge! PLus with all the games kids will generally go nuts. Don't miss the buzz light year bumper car thing! I do wish they had more pinball games there though!

We will be going to DQ for the first time this year. We plan to go on a Wednesday evening after we eat dinner. We too are staying at PORS, so we will take the boat to DTD.

I have no idea what to expect from DQ. There doesn't seem to be a lot on the net about it. I hope my kids 9 and 6 will like it. They love Playstation games, but have never been in an arcade atmosphere.

My husband and I (both in our very early 50's) went to DQ and had a wonderful time. Yes, it was fairly crowded but worth it. We loved designing our roller coaster and riding with the pirates and the raft ride. The 3D vision goggle things made me a little queasy but I did it anyway.:dazed

We went to DQ for the first time this past trip. We were not impressed. Maybe when our DD gets older, she will find more to do there.
First of all, our DD was not tall enough to do most of the must do attractions, rides etc. And we felt that many of the other things to do, we could do elsewhere.
The one thing she did enjoy was the drawing class where she was instructed on how to draw Donald. That was enjoyable.
But we are very glad that we went and checked it out. Don't know till you try...

VOBAN ...the real story

Hey downsouthtigger....

Hehehe, So you've heard of voban have you? Well actually, my husband of 15 years told me from day one that when I died he was going to have me made into voban. He told me it was that sprinkle/sawdust looking stuff that soaked up...er protein (vomit I assume you mean)
A regular sight in grade schools when I was younger (late 60's). :laugh He's a funny guy.

You're the first person who has noticed this and actually knows what it is!

I'm glad you got a good chuckle out of it.
Thanks for your input on DQ also.

Every good Cm knows about voban!!! You have too, plus being between spinning teacups and space mountain all day long, we need lots of voban to pick up the protein spills (yes vomit ugh!)
I guess I am surprised that no one else picked up on the voban joke, oh well.

I don't know the joke seems kinda morbid, but if you do get turned into Voban hopefully you end up in WDW, helping clean up the vomit and maintaining disney magic.
Wow that was even more morbid!!!!

But DQ is great and really enjoyed it! Its sometimes dark and noisy for my taste, and I love arcades. Also depends on the price, for 30 bux, I'd say just go to a waterpark, but if you go late enough it goes to half price. Just watch out for the foul mouths when they play vid games, I'm notrious when I lose, but when I win oddly enough I don't say a word.
