You may have already known about this, but I just caught the story and thought I'd share it:

Disney World to get four new attractions for anniversary

AP Business Writer

LOS ANGELES — Four new attractions will open at Walt Disney World Resort, including a walking, talking animatronic dinosaur named "Lucky," to mark the 50th anniversary of Disneyland.

The new attractions are part of an 18-month event, dubbed "The Happiest Celebration on Earth," which includes new fireworks shows, parades and rides at The Walt Disney Co.'s 10 worldwide theme parks.

The celebration begins May 5, 2005, and includes the opening of Disney's 11th park, Hong Kong Disneyland, in late 2005 or early 2006. Disneyland opened on July 17, 1955.

Plans at Walt Disney World Resort include:

_The "Cinderellebration" show from Tokyo Disneyland will play at the Magic Kingdom.

_The Soarin' over California ride, which debuted at Disney's California Adventure park, will open at Epcot.

_The "Lights, Motors, Action" stunt show from Disneyland Resort Paris will open at Disney-MGM Studios.

_A walking, talking dinosaur named Lucky will interact with guests at Disney's Animal Kingdom. A new roller coaster attraction, Expedition Everest, will also open at the park.

At Disneyland, the celebration includes the docking of one of Disney's popular cruise ships on the West Coast for 12 seven-day Mexican cruises.

Disneyland will also get a new parade, a new fireworks show and an exhibit highlighting the evolution of Disneyland from concept to opening day.

The indoor Space Mountain roller coaster, which has been closed for refurbishment, will reopen with new special effects.

A new attraction, the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, which features a 13-story free fall, debuted this week at the California Adventure park, located next to Disneyland.

At Disneyland Resort Paris, the "Wishes" fireworks show, similar to the one playing at Walt Disney World, will open with a new musical score.

The celebration at Tokyo Disney Resort will include the 2005 opening of Lost River Delta, which features a vertical, 360-degree loop combined with fire and water effects.

Nifty! I still wish Disneyland was getting the most attention, but I am glad the celebration will be something that people can enjoy worldwide.

This sealed it for me. I am not going t go this summer. I ma going to go in Jauary and then again the following January a week before to use my AP's again. I really want to check this out! Thanks for posting this.

It is pretty darn exciting. Dana, remember that you will be able to renew those AP at a discount...are you sure you won't be renewing anyway? If so, you may as well go this summer, too!

Will any of these (especially Soaring over California) be open in late Feb. 05 or should I wait a little longer, say April or May?

Soaring over CA is supposed to be open in the fall. I don't think the dinosaur is supposed to start walking around until next spring. Everest won't be open until next summer I think (I'm least sure about this one though)

Don't push your trip back. Use it as an excuse to go back!

Yes Merlin, I can deal with that. Being able to see Soaring will be good enough for me. I already didn't expect to see Everest. Thanks

And these are "projected" dates...don't plan your trip around them...if they are open when you go, consider it a perk...
