Pirates of the Caribbean rehab

http://www.jimhillmedia.com/mb/artic...le.php?ID=1261

This sounds very interesting. I wouldn't mind them fixing up PotC and adding a new AA of Jack Sparrow. What do you think?

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean rehab

I am against the change. I think they should keep the ride just as Mr. Disney (almost) designed it.
If they must update it, put a statue of Capt. Jack Sparrow between the ride exit and the gift shop entrance, or put an AA of him near the parrot at the ride entrance.

Actully, Walt never designed the WDW PotC. He designed PotC at DL, which is supposed to be much better than the WDW copy. For example, the one at DL has more scenes, two drops, and a much better ending. WDW was quickly thrown together due to popular demand.

I don't see how this could hurt the ride. It's not a total retheme, just adding a new AA. This can only help the ride.

In 5 to 6 years, no one will remember the PotC movies and then the ride will be stuck with these modifications. Then they will have to pull them out. I think it is a waste.

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean rehab

It's not a total re-do of the ride. All Disney is doing is putting in an AA at the end of the ride. If Disney wants to change the ride back, all they have to do is remove the AA.

That just sounds like they're selling out... Why not just put a lamenated fact sheet in front of the entrance andalong the walls in line? Seriously!

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean rehab

hmm..im all for it..just because johnny depps hot and i would love for him to be immortalized forever in a place where i can see him regularly..
BUT...i tend to agree and disagree with everything...as for the pirates movies not being popular in a few years--who knows really unless any of us have pshycic tendencies i guess we'll just have to see (if you do have pshycic tendencies please feel free to PM me and tell me if DBF is ever going to propose..)
but..the POTC movie was inspired by the POTC rides...i think slapping Captn Jack at the end is a good place to put him...im sure disney won't screw up the ride we all love so much by remaking into a "remake" of the POTC movie..hopefully there are no plans for an Eddie Murphy AA in the Haunted Mansion...If he's going to be there..he may as well be at the end not interrupting our memories...

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean rehab

As long as they just put him in at the end, and not in the middle of a current scene, I think it would be ok. I like the idea of having him out front with the parrot, or maybe he could be one of the guys playing checkers in the scene you pass in line!

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean rehab

I didn't like it when they changed PotC to make it politically correct about 10 to 15 years ago. I think it detracted from the ride. Who ever heard of politically correct pirates! So I guess some disgruntled crowds WILL be enough for Disney to change the ride.

This isn't about WDW PotC, but it does involve the DL version. When I first read this I was speechless. It sounds unbelievable. If only they could do that at WDW.
