Oh how sad. Each time something like this happens, it makes me wish they would have released Song of the South on DVD before the person died.

Did she play aunt phoebe? If so she was just on the show last week, in her wheelchair.

She was on the show last week as part of the 35th anniversary of AMC, but that was taped 2 weeks ago. She fell ill shortly after that and it rapidly progressed to pneumonia. It was so sad because Orson Welles gave her her start because he ran the theatre company that she was a member of and thought that were "ladies in Hollywood" who fit the bill to play the role of his wife in Citizen Kane. He felt that she was the only actress that he knew that could play the role as he had helped write it. She was 88. It is so sad that we are now losing some of are great actors and actresses and hollywood legends and some of our potential legends. It is really sad, she was a true lady of hollywood and a true actress of her generation.

What a sad loss, she was a talented and classy lady. I haven't watched it in years but I always likes her as Aunt Phoebe on AMC.

Oh wow, I can't believe I am just hearing this. I have watched All My Children for over 30 years (yes, I am old). Aunt Phoebe is a treasured part of the show. I remember my shock when I saw Song of the South a while back and realized she was Johnny's momma. She was a beautiful lady.
