New Ride and New Movie Park Confirmed

Hey Good News,

I just confirmed this with a friend of mine who is an Executive at Disney. They are Opening up a new movie park that will be a continuation of MGM and there will be a new ride coming in the Animal Kingdom.

My friend says that the new ride in Animal Kingdom will be a first for Disney. It is an experience that goes beyond the traditional rides thus far. You will journey through a tunnel by foot with a tour guide and at a certain point you will be asked to perform tasks to help save the missing link. At this point you are on your own and the tour guide is missing. It is up to you to escape before you come face to face with the missing link. It is a very scary ride and a different experence everytime. There is quick sand and rats and bugs heat and cold. My friend says the effects are going to be awesome and will be the most expensive ride Disney has every completed. It will also be the most technically complicated. They are not even calling it a ride and reservations are needed to go on the journey. It will be a show type ride with a very real experience. In some cases (depending on when the guests are able to find their way out) the ride can take 4 hours.

It will also be an additional fee. I can't wait. So far the name of the ride will the the MISSING LINK.

And as far as the new Movie Park I heard it will virtually make Universal look anemic. It will be their biggest park yet. I heard they will still keep MGM and redo the theming to be more like the new park. Estimations for this new park are 5 to 8 years to complete and the Missing Link should be around by 2005.

It looks like Disney is heading toward a new direction.

WOW.:) :D :p

whoooha! I don't know about that one!!! sounds kinda freaky.. not sure I want to be on a "ride" that someone could freak out on and cause panic! Sounds interesting though we'll just have to wait and see if it leaves the planning board!

Thanks for the Info!

Whew! Sure sounds like a completely new venture. Did your friend give any indication of an estimated date of completion?

That sounds awesome. And, since DW says it'll be "at least a few years" until we can go back(she likes non-Disney type variety in her vacations, and we have a few things to save up for), I can ratiionalize the wait to myself by saying I'm waiting for the new ride/park!:D :)

More On New Ride (The MISSING LINK)

Hey everyone,

I have given you all some misinformation on the new ride scheduled called the MISSING LINK. Here are the corrections:

The tour guide leaves but (to avoid panic you are escorted to moving vehicles that you are told to enter by a person on a screen). This is where the ride actually begins. I am assuming that the part you walk through is kind of like the beginning part of the Haunted Mansion on a much more elaborate scale. And as far as the ride being a different experience each time, that is true, but it will not take four hours to complete. That was wrong.
Before you actually enter the ride you are fitted with a Harness. And when you enter the moving cars the Harness has several Steel rings that are attached to cables that are on back of the car. At a certain point of the ride the bar lifts off the cars and you are actually taken from you seat by these cables and you are floating in a dark musty tunnel. There are several extreme effects at this point. At this point you float for about five minutes and are returned to your car. The car takes you to a Jungle where your tour guide arrives and asks you to follow him and the rest is still up in the air on what is to take place. My friend who is an executive says this is definitely going to happen because Michael Eisner is taking a special interest in this one and loves the concept. Hopefully it dosen't get too diluted. We will wait and see.

New Movie Park (more Info Confirmed)

Hey,

I received some new information about the new movie park from my friend who is an Executive at Disney. According to an inside memo They are raising the bar on what a movie park should be. According to the memo they are going to force Universal to do a total rehab on their parks because this new park is going to be three times the size as Universal including all their properties combined (that is including City Walk and the Hotel Sections.) This is going to be a very expensive undertaking, but according to the insiders it is going to be well worth it. Every thing in this park is going to be a first. They said they are going to change the face of theme parks forever and after the park is complete, total rehabs of MGM, The Magic Kingdom and Epcot are going to start. They are moving toward a new direction for the next generation and rasing the bar forever. No stone is going to be left unturned and if you thought detail was their forte before you are really going to be amazed at some of the detals they have in store. All they are saying now is that this is going to be a total experience park (not a park where you wait on line to see something) as soon as you walk through the gate you are leaving reality and experiencing everything the way it was meant to be experienced. No lines will be at this park. They are kind of tight-lipped on how they are going to pull this off, but they said you will not be in the real world so you just have to see it to believe it. One insider goes so far as saying once you visit this park once, you will never be the same, it will be a life changing experience. It will be like going to another world and loving every minute of it.

I'm starting to wonder where Disney is going to get all the money to do all these things??? Wasn't just last month that they were saying how much they needed people to visit? Maybe i'm wrong but does anyone know.. Is Disney doing really good or something?

mmmmmmm no lines .. well I have always felt that when I am at WDW I have left reality behind and its always been part of the magic.. think "wait and see" applies here, I am with Scanlonsgirl and the idea that not just disney but everyone is in a bit of a bind currently.

wow agian!!! This is some crazy stuff!!! Are you sure you are allowed to be telling this inside info stemikger? I know how hush-hush disney is, and this could probably get ur friend fired! . But his/her name has never been mentioned so they are safe i guess! lol. I also cant understand where disney is getting this money. I know anything below 50 million dollars is considered like very, very bad times for disney but we are talking billions of dollars for this new park your talking about! It would probably take 5 years to make!!!

I, like many of you, are skeptical of these rumors. I looked at the Disney stock today and at under $16 a share, I am not sure how much assurance Disney could give its stockholders on any short term gains. If Disney can't justify keeping CoP, e-nights, and early entry because of low attendance, how are they going to invest this kind of loot in cutting edge technology. The rumors mentioned certainly peak your interest, many of us have been alluding to such changes before, but on this scale? Before I get too hyped up, I would like to get verification from some other sources. In the meantime, enjoy the parks for what they are today. :)

Missing Link

Wouldn't a ride about the missing link be controversial? There are a fare number of individuals who believe in creationism. Would Disney risk offending them?

Hugh, welcome to DisneyCentral, sorry this had to be your introduction. This thread was a fabrication, and in no way is it fact. Sorry!
