Re: Is Disney buying Dreamworks?

I haven't heard that, all I have heard is that he does want to repair the relationship with Pixar. I would find it hard to believe the management of Dreamworks would persue anything with Disney but money always talks.

Katzenburg back at Disney!? No way!!!! I think they will repair their relationship with Pixar, but if Iger gets desperate enough maybe they would bring Dreamworks on board.

Eisner and Katzenberg(The guy behind Dreamworks) are mortal enemies, but now with Iger its all different.

Re: Is Disney buying Dreamworks?

It's not such a far futched idea. Read this from the article.

Despite Katzenberg's courtroom battles with Eisner over his compensation, a deal with DreamWorks might not be as unlikely as it seems. As president of ABC prior to its 1996 acquisition by Disney, Iger bought a 1% stake in the upstart DreamWorks studio and ordered two TV shows for the network. When Iger married TV reporter Willow Bay in 1995, Katzenberg was front and center. "They have a good relationship," says a friend of both. The deal could be structured as a stand-alone unit, similar to Disney's 1993 arrangement with Miramax, which was negotiated by Katzenberg. But it would still face hurdles, including a hefty price tag and DreamWorks' existing distribution deal with NBC Universal. Neither Disney nor DreamWorks would comment.

Not that would be funny! NBC paying royalties to ABC's owners! Or Universal Studios featuring Disney-owned characters.

Re: Is Disney buying Dreamworks?

If Disney bought Dreamworks, or worked with them, there would be virtually no competition! It would all be one BIG thing. I guess they have competition with the makers of Iceage/Robots, but I'd imagine that the competition between Disney and the "iceage" people isn't as big as the competition between Disney and the "Shrek" People. Just a thought.
