Icon5 Non-Disney Music at WDW?

Two of my three brothers, known on this website as darbyogill and Baloo85, once told me that once, at the main gate of MK, the stereo started playing Back to the Future music. The strange thing is that Back to the Future is a movie by Universal, Disney's mortal enemy. I think my no-good brothers lied to me, but if anyone has heard any non-Disney music anywhere in Disney besides MGM and remembers it, please say so below. Some of you may think I'm crazy doing this post, but my brothers sounded dead serious.

Re: Non-Disney Music at WDW?

I've heard Wizard of Oz music at Disney's California adventure, In the Hollywood Pictures backlot area. (Basicly a miniature version of MGM studios, kinda) I've also heard Indiana Jones/ Starwars music playing around the parks, and music from a bunch of old western movies that arn't Disney. So Disney does play non-Disney music in their parks.

Re: Non-Disney Music at WDW?

I'm with you Lenny, and I doubt it was Back to the Future...I don't think there's any chance of Disney playing music from a famous Universal movie/attraction...

But I know they do play a lot of Indy & Star Wars music (both of which are appropriate obviously), and sometimes I start to mistake the Indy music for non-Disney things like Back to the Future. So maybe your brothers got a little mixed up, or like you said...they lied to you. Hehe.

Re: Non-Disney Music at WDW?

Most, if not all, the music they play on Main St. USA is not Disney, but music from the time period.

Re: Non-Disney Music at WDW?

One of the things they play a lot at Main Street is a song called "Elegance" from Hello Dolly! They play a medley of stuff from the period there.

I THINK you might be right about the Back To The Future Theme. I know my movie music - except I think I heard this at the gates of MGM -- it could just be something that sounds similiar, but I think I heard that there once, too).

I know I have heard Sarah Brightman's Time To Say Goodbye at Italy in EPCOT.

And in the resorts- particularly ALL STAR MUSIC- you hear a bit of everything! I remember hearing something from Phantom of the Opera one day on my way to the piano pool.

They do play a variance of music.
But you have me on this "FUTURE" thing. I'm pretty sure I heard it, too -- -but I'm trying to remember where--- I'm thinking in front of Grauman's?
Could just be Florida trips all getting jumbled into each other.

I never knew that they actually played music from the respective decades represented at Pop Century's inns, but that makes staying there even better; fully immersing guests into that time period that their motel room buidlings are themed. I think nothing can do that more than songs/music from that era!
