Re: Disneyland in Australia

I have heard this rumor, but it has been around for several years. I guess I'll believe it when I see it. It would be very neat if it did happen, though.

Re: Disneyland in Australia

Who knows, but a DL in Australia would be huge, I think.

Re: Disneyland in Australia

Personnally I don't think a park in Australia will work. The population of Australia is only just over 20 million and Hong Kong and Japan are closer to the denser population areas of the Far East. There wouldn't be a huge customer base near any park there like there is near all the rest of the parks around the world. Although the weather would be great!!!

Re: Disneyland in Australia

Yes, this rumor has picked up speed again, especially since Hong Kong Disney is nearly finished.

It is highly likely that korea or Australia will be the next target for a Magic Kingdom.

I'm sure Australia is fully capable of sustaining a Disney Park. Tourists from all over the world visit Australia and most would welcome a Disney Fix from Down Under. There is some great opportunity for a very different Magic Kingdom approach also making it a unique experience from the other parks.

Re: Disneyland in Australia

When we were on the plane flying home from Orlando to LA, there was a family we were chatting with from Australia who had traveled the 16 hours or whatever it is from Australia to LA, then 5 more hours from LA to Orlando, and back - for just a week at WDW.

Now I love my kids very very much, but I'd never do that. I'm sure that many other parents down under feel the same way...and so this is one of the reasons why I think a Disney down under would be a huge success. Not only do you have the entire country/continent of Australia, but also neighboring countries, such as New Zealand. I definitely think it's enough to sustain a Disney park. Maybe not a WDW-sized resort, but definitely a Disneyland and a hotel or two.

And yes, a Disneyland in Australia would definitely encourage me to consider a trip down under one of these days.

Re: Disneyland in Australia

Count me in!!! I would love to go 'down under' someday.

BTW...I can not see Disney building in Korea. First of all, it is so close to Tokyo. Second, this area is very volatile right now with all the nuclear talk of North Korea. It would be hard to get people to take a vacation in that region.

True. My brother is stationed over there right now and says the stereotype of the place and it's people is very different from what is in American Minds. And although it's not a vacation spot, there is a huge amount of people in Sol and the rest of the country who want Disney to come. Now whether Disney will do this is doubtful, but the possiblity is being looked at none the less. Depends on how many MK's Disney wants globally in the long run I guess.

Re: Disneyland in Australia

There is a huge tourist market of Koreans coming to Australia - Disney Oz would work well. Not to mention the Japanese where there is a massive tourist market - the more I think of it the more I think it would work

Re: Disneyland in Australia

I would go! I think that Australian's as a whole are much more laid back than Americans (honestly..who isn't more laidback than we are??) I think it would be a very interesting take on Disney....I'd love to experience it first hand!

Re: Disneyland in Australia

I've heard this rumor before and I think it's a great idea! The population is good enough, and there's lots of tourists. Just one problem, when people are going to Austrailia for a trip, how many would take the time to Visit a Disney Park? You never really know.

Re: Disneyland in Australia

I would love to be able to go to a Disney park and visit Australia. My dream vacation would be a month touring the entire continent. A visit to Disney while there would definitely be icing on the cake.
