Re: Disney themepark in...India?

I'd go in a heartbeat. India is absolutely gorgeous. But I don't think it's gonna happen. I don't think India is in any position to do much right now. It would be great for tourism, but they're packed!
I still say Australia is the next best place. Lots of open space in the outback...

Too many Disneylands, not enough magic!

Make them stop this madness! They are turning Disney into 7-11, Starbucks and Wal-Mart.

Re: Disney themepark in...India?

India, hmmm? Seems like an odd choice, at least at the moment. I was going to suggest what Kippage said...Australia would be a great place for a Disney park.

dznygrl I agree with you seems like a very odd place for there to be a Disney Park. I dont think that I would go there. Now if they put a park in Australia I would want to go there.

Re: Disney themepark in...India?

I think there is a lot of logic in putting it in of of the most populous (albeit poor) countries in the world, however Australia WOULD be a more logical choice in my opinion. I would travel to ANY of the Disney theme parks, whether in China, India, Japan, France, etc...I would be a little more tense about trips to China and India than I would the others, but if it weren't safe, I wouldn't think Disney would bother with the park. IMHO. For the moment, I guess I will stick to WDW and DLR!

I'd have to disagree. Given that thus far there are only four (five, counting the one in Hong Kong) of them on the planet, I don't think there are too many, and people in other countries may not ever be able to go to one otherwise. The travel expenses may be the most prohibitive expenses in some cases.

Re: Disney themepark in...India?

I would guess Australia's population is too low to support a Disney park.

Australia's est. population is 19,357,594.

The U.S. est. population is 296,019,111 (15 times greater than Australia).

India's est. population is 1,045,845,226 (3.5 times greater than the U.S.).

Even if 2/3 of India's population lived in destitution (which I don't know to be a fact), that would still leave a population equal to the U.S., thus making the idea feasible. I think the one drawback is the region's instability, with India & Pakistan pointing nuclear weapons at each other and frequently "rattling sabers."

I agree caver. The population of Australia is too low. Look at Disneyland Paris, the population of France is aprrox 60 million and they still can not make any money. Also Paris has the rest of Europe with good and quick transport to help them. (I haven't been and would only go for a weekend at most).

I wouldn't go to a disney park in India either, it wouldn't be Disney. Disney to me is America and thats where I would go and spend 3 weeks vacation.

True. If we're looking at population, I think South America would be great too. Maybe in the southern Brazil area, which is very populated and frequented by tourists. Or in the Chile/Argentina area. Unfortunately, the Chile/Argentina region is just too crazy right now - as is much of the world.

I would go to any of the current Disney Parks - except Paris, I really have zero interest France and most of Europe in general.

Re: Disney themepark in...India?

They just need to put a "winter" themed park up here in Alaska, and I will be complete.

Re: Disney themepark in...India?

I'm rather sad they never put one here in Virginia the way they were thinking of doing some years ago. That would have been cool.
