Haunted Mansion Holiday Update

2005/2006 - Haunted Mansion Holiday - Rumor - (8/8/05) The latest rumor claims that not will the well received Haunted Mansion Holiday transformation happen this year, but they may have dropped the idea all together. Our source was told that their studies claimed that many of the foreigners who visit WDW either don’t know about The Nightmare Before Christmas film or they would just rather see the regular old mansion. If so, it’s a shame given how well received the ride was reported to be in Japan.

My feelings toward this are mixed. I understand that most guests can only visit WDW once a year or less, but this would be a great addition to the Magic Kingdom around the holidays. I would personally love to see this come to WDW, but it now seems unlikely. What are your thoughts?

I really wanted to see the holiday version...but I understand where this sort of thinking is coming from...it was like how for the opening of the the Stitch ride, they "trashed" the castle with toilet paper and grafitti...for those who never saw the castle before till that day...it spoiled the effect and moment....unless they were understanding, Lilo and Stitch nuts....too bad again on the hm! :(

I thought they were going to do a Holiday IASW too.... that was one of the reasons for the rehab there.

The should do the "Nightmare Before Christmas" theme AT IASW. Those demon dolls are pretty scarey already!

Me personally, I'm kinda on the fence about this one. I think it might be cool to see the WDW HM transformed, but thats only because I have seen it many times, so for me, a temp. change would be cool.
However, I think that if I had never seen it before and my one and only chance to see it and it was transformed, I might be disapointed.
In fact, I was when I went to Disneyland and saw their mansion transformed. I really wanted to see the original, but it didnt happen.

What's wrong with a temporary change every once in a while?

I never got to see the HMH and I thought it would be neat to see it at least once. (Especially since I got over my "I'm scared of everything Tim Burton" phase.

I don't know...it's a huge hit at DL. I don't think you have to familiar with the film...(I've never seen the film) - it could simply be interpreted as the mansion all decked out for the holidays in it's own quirky way.

I think WDW is making a mistake in at least not giving it a shot.

I was not crazy about the holiday haunted mansion. I really did not like the nightmare before Christmas movie, and I really liked the original better.

I agree with disneywife that WDW is missing an opportunity..BUT...I prefer that they not do it this year as I am looking forward to seeing HM at WDW in its original manner. It really is neat to see it at DL, but I start to miss the usual HM by the time November is over.....

I wish WDW would have at least offered the 999 Happy Haunts Event again this year. It doesn't change the ride so I don't know why they couldn't have gone on with it.
