I found some printed information on the new Disney VISA, though it isn't very thurough:
Beacon Journal Article Disney getting own Visa card The Walt Disney Co. is phasing out the Disney Club, which offers discounts on merchandise, park admissions and packages at Walt Disney World and Disneyland, and replacing it with a Visa card. The Disney Club, which costs $39.95 annually to join, will be disbanded Dec. 31, 2003; the company stopped accepting memberships and renewals in December. Holders of the new Disney-Visa card, which will be introduced early next year, will accumulate points, based on general credit card purchases, that can be redeemed at Disney stores and theme parks in the United States. Within six months, points will also be redeemable for Disney productions, such as The Lion King, at the New Amsterdam Theater in New York. The company is not planning to charge an annual fee for the card, a Disney spokesman said.

Hey Kristen, one of the cards you have doesn't happen to be a Disney store card, does it? I was wondering if someone in your circumstances had one of those with a good record if it would hold any weight. I do feel for you though. I remember being that young (well, kind of....it was a LONG time ago!) and trying to establish credit. Just hang in there, you'll get there eventually.

I think it would be very smart of them to issue disney dollars for the points. That way you would use it on something disney! Also, some people collect the dollars, or could give it as presents, etc. I know my kids like getting disney dollars for any reason!
but I am just a stay at home disney fanatic-what do I know?:p |

As an update, I received our Disney Club mailing today, and there was some additional information on the Disney VISA card. You can apply by calling 1-888-688-4868. The "secret" code is 680G12. You can apply online or by calling starting March 4, 2003.
The literature also states that if your travel agents books you a trip and you use the card to pay for it, they will give you a promotional interest rate on that amount for six months. The Disney Rewards also state that you can use them on any Disney purchase, from the Disney Store to Disney vacation packages. No news about discounts similar to the Disney Club though.

I think everyone will find it interesting that the Disney Store Card is no longer taking applications (at least online - it's not clear on if they are taking applications through mail or not). :hmmm
From www.disneycreditcard.com : "We're sorry, The Disney Credit Card is no longer accepting applications online. "

Interesting about the disney credit card. I only used mine a few times a year anyway.
What do you think the commercials will look like? Mickey getting an oil change in his car, Goofy skiing, Minnie getting her nails done (wait, does she have nails?) and paying for it all with her disney visa card. Scrooge McDuck counting his disney credit he has received!! I like that idea.:laugh |

And teresadisney, what a great premise for the commercials! You ought to drop VISA a note with that suggestion. Try going to visa.com & see if they have a way to contact them. I'd love to see that!

Nope, no credit for balance transfers. It has to look like a new purchase. I haven't seen an incentive card yet that will give you credit toward whatever their incentive is on balance transfers.
