Disney in Brunswick County, NC (near Wilmington) rumors

Rumors are going around, though highly unlikely, as the enclosed article mentions, that Disney plans to build another theme park resort in Brunswick County, not far for Wilmington, NC. Here is a URL to the article:

Such rumors about Disney building a theme park resort in the Wilmington, NC area do not surprise me a bit! There had been somewhat of a film/TV industry in the Wilmington area off and on for the last 20 years, which peaked in the mid-to-late 1990's. Many movies and TV shows have been made there, though this has declined a bit since the late 1990's. The TV shows Dawson's Creek and One Tree Hill are/were filmed there, as was the pilot epsiode of Touched By an Angel. This, as well as its close proximity to the #2 rated vacation spot in the U.S., Myrtle Beach, SC (71 miles southwest of Wilmington) make this rumor quite predictable!

I'd just assume they keep building bigger and better things at the current locations, to be honest. Maybe like a 5th park someday... But at least on new attractions...

Well that would be cool, but unlikely! I wish they would build one in New Jersey! Although it doesn't seem like a very logical place, LOL!

There have been rumors of a texas park going around for years. I really doubt it, but it would be nice since it would be so much closer for us.

I don't think they would build one in NC as fickle as the weather is in this state. We have super hot summers and really cold winters, and lots of times the colder days are in the "spring". Yeah, it'd throw some tourists into a tizzy.

But I would love a Disney park in the state I live in!

These rumors surface every few months, always in some place different... it has been going on for years! But if I could get my wish in, I'd order a park on the East Coast... farther north.

Ya know, last year we were looking for a house in a fairly new city here in AZ and they were telling people that were looking at the new houses that Disney was building a new water park a few miles south of there. I haven't seen anything yet.

I personally would LOVE if they built a park in Wilmington since I live about 2 hours from there (I'd have to change my name to Erin I'd go so much)

BUT
Wilmington/Outer Banks area is pretty much where ALL the hurricanes hit..I can't see them building a park there
