Re: Free Dining 2008?

Ok, my wife is losing hope that they will not have it this year. We have a huge bet going on between us now. I'm betting they do. Still standing by. hopefully 4/7 (Monday) we'll hear something.

Re: Free Dining 2008?

It's all over another forum that free dining is pretty much confirmed. This is what I found:

*******(post from another board)*******Hi Everyone! I haven't posted in quite a long time, but often lurking and keeping up on things. I also read that same post about 2 hours ago. I too have been anxiously awaiting the possible release of Free Dining! For myself and 2 clients. So after reading that I decided to make a call. I called the disney travel agent # and spoke with a disney rep. She stated that they had just recieved the info this morning. The dates she gave me were the same as the other poster had stated. 8/24/08 - 9/20/08. I was so happy to actually get a positive response (called a few days ago and the rep was rude, bothered and claimed to know nothing about free dining) that I forgot to ask for the actual codes. Sorry! But I did remember to ask about final check in dates for the offer. She said "as long as your client checks in by 9/20/08, they will recieve free dining for their entire stay." I went over everything twice with her before I hung up to make sure I had the correct info. The booking dates are also correct. 4/7 for Disney Visa, and 4/10 for general public. Just wanted to pass along some positive "almost" official info. Hope this helps.

I just emailed my TA to see if she has gotten anything on this yet. I will let you know what I find out!

Let's certainly hope that iS NOT the case! My trip is 9/20 - 9/27 and we've been waiting and hoping for free dining that week. This does not sound good....

yes, if the rumor has it that as long as you check in by the 20th, you should be okay. If not, if it is possible, it would be worth your while to bump your trip up a week.

Re: Free Dining 2008?

I'm already going in November, but it kinda makes me want to go for Labor Day weekend. Do you think I'll be able to convince DH to drive 1100 miles there and 1100 miles back just for some free food?

We check in on 9/19 and from what the op said, as long as you check in before free dining ends, then you should be covered for your whole trip. Now with that being said, Disney could decide to only keep until the 20th and that's it, but I am keeping positive thoughts that we will be fine and get free dining!

Re: Free Dining 2008?

Well, since we are DVC members and are going at the end of August, I guess we get shut out of this So here's my two dumb questions 1 - Am I right - are we shut out?, and 2 - Does this mean food lines will be longer and ressies tougher to get - I mean, whether it's "free" or not, people still gotta eat, right? Thanks for your help

You will not be able to take advantage of the free dining, and yes, ADR's will be a lot harder to get. I would make mine TODAY!!

Are the parks ALOT more crowded in September (say the end) during the free dining than they are the middle of October?

No; we have found that the parks are very manageable. Sometimes it seemed as if we owned the place. However, I think people who would not normally do a sit down make reservations instead of eating at a CS. Thats why I feel the ADR's get harder to make.
