I'm with you. Of course, I was a SM for TCP and now work per dium there sometimes, but the quality at DS is better than it used to be and the prices are more reasonable now. I do miss the adult clothes, but I'm not finding it on disneyshopping.com either, so I don't think it'd be in the stores if Disney owned them.
If you have kids, the CMs get discounts at both DS and TCP now, so it's not a bad deal.

Re: Disney stores might be sold back to disney

They closed the one near me down.

I tried to get a job there when I was laid off several years ago. Wound up taking a better job but I remember them telling me that I would have to shave my beard and moustache. No big deal but I'm guessing with that policy they would have hired Jeffrey Dahmer before hiring Jesus.

I have to say I had no idea the Children's Place owned them. Although I do love the Place I have to admit there is little grown up stuff at the stores now. So Go Disney!

Re: Disney stores might be sold back to disney

Have to agree with the previous posts that the Disney stores selection for adults has been a joke during the Children's Place ownership. What they do have is very cheap and a rare thing to find in the first place lately. For the past few years the selection has grown very stagnant, very rarely do you find something new there. We go once and a while, but unlike before when Disney ran and owned it, now we very rarely find anything to buy there. Last time we were there, about a week ago there was 2 racks of what looked like old stock/returns of adult clothing but most of the stuff was in sizes that no one wears (small) and looked like it was taken out of a trash bag it was so wrinkled and just thrown on hangers. We can't wait for next weekend when we will be at Disney World for a week and do some REAL Disney shopping.

Re: Disney stores might be sold back to disney

I heard about this also. The plus is the management would go back to Disney, so maybe there would be a little more "magic" in the stores. The bad news is I heard that after Disney takes ownership back, they are going to close somewhere between 1/3 and 1/2 of the stores.

Re: Disney stores might be sold back to disney

Well closing some stores might be a short term "fix". The main thing they need to do is to start getting better quality merchandise and start coming out with a line ONLY available at the Disney stores and maybe Disney theme parks.

Walk through Wal*Mart and see how much merchandise has a Disney logos, characters, or designs on it, everything from underwear to fishing poles! They are shooting themselves in the foot doing this, and put with that the low quality of the merchandise they do put on the selves to sell at the Disney stores, makes it a bad deal for everyone, including Disney

They need to either change their business model for the stores or suffer the losses each year, to us the Disney stores are not what they once were, they have turned into something that would be home at "the south of the border" tourist trap, that we all stop at while going by .

Re: Disney stores might be sold back to disney

Reality check. Disney unloaded their stores in the first place because of revenue loss. CP hasn't been able to turn that around. I'm not exactly expecting a long life for Disney Stores unless Disney has a plan for major revamping.

Re: Disney stores might be sold back to disney

It is strange. I love the original stores too. They had a lot of really nice disney memorabilia. Bought my Mom a limited edition Crystal statue.

Re: Disney stores might be sold back to disney

At WoD in NYC last week, I was chatting a CM up aboutthe swtich back to Disney ownership. He sort of acted conspiratorial and said something along the line sof rumors are all around, and you never know! (wink wink)

I hope he wasn't just playing along with what he could tell was wishful thinking!

Unfortunately, sometimes the employees are the last to know.

Re: Disney stores might be sold back to disney

Wednesday is the last day for TCP associates to get their discount at Disney Stores, so it's a done deal. The CMs have known since it first happened at the beginning of April.
