LOL!

Hey wait a minute... can the Amish even go to MK? IN fact, ANY of the parks? Can they hop on a bus, a boat or a monorail? Can they ride the coasters? How about those pesky Teacups? People, these are serious questions! Now I am fascinated...

Re: Line Rage at Disney!

It was either our 1998 or 2000 trip, we saw some Amish. If I remember right it was at MK. We wondered also how they got there and where they were staying. Never saw them again once we got into the park.

Yes, they can! The Amish are allowed to use modern conveniences as long as they don't allow them to take over their lives. However, items like TVs, cars, and dishwashers are not deemed necessary to daily living and therefore, they do not OWN them.

Re: Line Rage at Disney!

I am surprised that people assume that someone with an objection to finger printing must have something to hide. Misuse of personal information is an extremely serious problem, and the reason I object to fingerprinting unless it's an important reason.

For the record, I have been fingerprinted for my teaching license. Obviously, this is a valid reason for fingerprinting.

But, what can someone do with just my fingerprints? Maybe I'm extremely naive, but I just don't see a problem with it.

Girl, you need to watch "Mission: Impossible"
We can, I mean - they can totally take over your life with a set of prints and a good retinal scan. So if you lose an eye, it was because you ran with scissors.

Are we clear now?

Right!

Those same people who can randomly take a wild guess at your passwords for various important accounts and steal your life savings and wipe out records that you ever existed! (Think Sandra Bullock in The Net...)

Not being one with a criminal mind , I can only imagine.... something that extremely personal (and identifying) should not be available for prying eyes.

You just have a very trusting nature

I did a quick google search for stolen fingerprints, and analysts believe this is worse that a stolen social security #. See example article here:

Payment by fingerprint disappears -- chicagotribune.com

Right that is when you allow them to tie your life and all your financial records into that fingerprint. Granted on State and National level (SCIC and NCIC), all your demographic information is registered with your fingerprint if you get printed. This was a company that went belly up, because they put everyones 'life' on a print despite flaws in the system. Most biometric devices just store enough information to identify an induvidual (i.e. security systems, PC bio access, time clocks and of course WDW).

Brits are great! It's the Amish we have to watch out for.
I think the answer is to dress in an Amish disguise before attacking guests in line.

I've often wondered about the fingerprint thing at Disney. But they don't have our names attached to the tickets, unless it's like a package ticket. I mean, I buy mine from on line ticket brokers. So they may know the finger that goes with the ticket, but they don't know who it belongs to.

The hospital where I work has a biometric scanner for the medication dispenser. But our union put up such a fuss about it that they set it up so that we had the option of entering a password instead.

I was once the crowned prince of Schnitzlevania - First in line for the throne, when my ID was stolen and given to some guy now known as Prince Harry.

Treacherous stuff.
