Rumor of new MGM stunt show

Just wanted to know if anyone else has heard any rumors of a new Stunt Car Show planed for MGM in the Backlot Tour area? It is supose to be similar to the one in Disney Paris.

As posted on www.wdwmagic.com
Quote:
28 May 2003: Disneyland 50th Celebration at WDW?To coincide with the 50th Anniversary of Disneyland in 2005, there are several plans on the drawing board for WDW, ranging from area enhancements, through to new rides and shows. MGM's possible enhancements include the addition of the Motor Stunt Show from the Walt Disney Studios at Disneyland Paris Resort. The current planned location for the new show is the area close to Catastrophe Canyon. There are currently construction walls around the old Hunchback Stage area and also around part of the back of New York Street and the backlot. While much of this work is rehab work on the facades, it is being speculated that preparation for the Motor Stunt Show is underway. While the Stunt Show is definitely under serious consideration by Disney, please note that it has not be given the definite go ahead.
I do hope that it is true, MGM is in need of a new attraction.

Pardon me for being uninformed, but what are Osborne lights? I'm sure that this is probably a dumb question, but since I've never been to MGM, I'm assuming it's got something to do with MGM.

Thanks!

The Osborne family is famous for it's holiday light displays. At Christmas time they do what is called the Osbornes festival of lights at MGM (or something like that). It is really neat! On the backlot there is an entire neighborhood of houses (Well actually facades of houses) which are used to film TV shows and movies. These houses are all decked out in Christmas lights! I've posted a photo from our trip over Thanksgiving weekend 2001 below..............

A new stunt show would be great. As i have said before, MGM is absolutely my favorite park (actually my favorite place in the whole world!!!) I have seen the Osbourne lights a couple of times, very cool!! Although, I think I would miss the Backlot tour, I love to see the "Golden Girls House."

Please! The Osboourne LIghts and the snow in New York were the absolute hightlight of my first winter time trip this past New Year's. If they want a new show they can replace the Raiders one. I have seen it enought. The Backlot Tour and the lights are totally awesome. Please Please say it isn't so!

A new stunt show would be nice. Much as I love Indy, I don't think I'll ever really feel like sitting through that show again for a long while. It's time for an update.
Speaking of which - did any of you go on the "Pearl Harbor" behind the scenes thing at MGM. I think this was last year. It was located where the old Special Effects tour used to be. The people who did the effects for PH also did something else for Disney- was it Armageddon? -- Anyway, they showed a simulation of what the effects would be like during the filming of PH, with splashing water and fire effects, etc..., before bringing the throngs into the studio tour.
...I didn't imagine this, right??? I remember it was kind of odd for them to be doing such a presentation on the heels of 2001.

Yes that was there when we went in 2000 and 2002. It was more a show of different water effects including a submarine being blown up. It also showed a boat's bridge being inudated with water. If I remember corrrectly they then put it together with some movie footage to show how the FX scenes would be incorporated into a movie
