At our mall, all the tenants have to remodel their stores (even if it's only a paint job or new carpeting) every 6 years. It was time for the Disney Store 2 years ago to remodel. I know the cm's there and they told me sometime ago that it looked like Disney was buying them back. They think that's why the store didn't get an update. Hope it happens now.

I'm sure it will! From what I was told, the remodel is across the board.

Re: Mickey coming to your Disney Store?

We just lost another store here, now there is just one that I know of, and I don't even know if that closed too now I'm just glad my 4yr DS wasn't with me at the time we saw it being clearance out--down to the fixtures (but no cool stuff, just racks and shelves)
We used to have a Warner Bros. store too, and it was so cool, we were bummed when it closed.

I love the idea that they may be re-doing them and being authentic Disney stores again. I noticed a big difference when ours were bought by a different company and became so bland and lacked clothing for adults.
Like I mentioned in another post, I wish Disney would come out with a huge home decor store so you could outfit your entire house with WDW stuff!

Re: Mickey coming to your Disney Store?

He won't be coming to MY closed-down Disney store.

Destroying the props doesn't surprise me. Years ago I was stock man at Express. They were pitching some potted fir trees (fake) that would have made good Christmas trees. After I mentioned that to my boss, I then had to be escorted by an assistant manager to the dumpster/crusher to make sure I didn't take one home.

That's ridiculous!

The only thing that comes close that I can think of is when I worked for a pizza place and they'd give any mistakes or pizzas that were ordered by phone and not picked up to the homeless shelter, to make sure that no employees were doing it to get free food.

Where in Wisconsin do you live? The Disney store at Southridge is still open.

yea!!! I haven't been in months, so I didn't know and when I saw the Mayfair one closing I started to panic! I still want to pick up some Disney Dollars for my kids to spend on this upcoming trip. Thanks for the info! Do you think the Southridge one will get remodeled and owned by Disney again? The CM are so nice at that one, but it's just not big enough in my mind...oh, I'm in Waukesha

My little brother worked for Honda for awhile. Part of his job was to break up stereos/gps systems and other perfectly good car parts that were "extras". He said it was tough to take a sledge hammer to a perfectly good cd player

Re: Mickey coming to your Disney Store?

You'll have to do a search. I saw it there about 3 weeks ago.

All the talk in this thread about perfectly good things being destroyed and trashed is making me angry. I am very big on not being wasteful, and throwing away things that someone could use is definitely wasteful, and it is filling up our landfills! Ridiculous!!

Sorry, just had to add that!

I'm assuming since you're in Mt. Airy, the 30 minute store you're talking about is the one in Hanes Mall. Did it close too? I thought it was staying open! I loved that store! Which one is 2 hours from where you are? Is it in NC?
