Significant Rumors

First my disclaimer:

These are rumors and I do not know if/when these will come true.

I have a good neighbor who's Uncle has worked at the MK for nearly 15 years (Splash Mountain facilities). She just came back from visiting the MK and he swears:

Space Mountain will close for nearly a year for a significant renovation in 2009 (I actually think I have heared this other places).

The Riverboat will be removed for good in the not too distant future (not happy about this but I do understand that it seems to take a great deal of upkeep).

The Fort Langhorn and other feature on Tom Sawyer Island will be removed similarly to what has happened at Disneyland (not happy about this at all- ).

Big Thunder Mountain will be basically leveled and re-built on the same spot as part of a huge renovation at some point in the next few years (that is a ton of $$ ).

If I hear anything else, I'll post.

Re: Significant Rumors

Not surprised about Space Mountain. . . my DDs won't ride, but everytime we are on the people mover, it seems like the lights are on more then they are not!

TSI- we never go . . . the riverboat my kids always ask me about . . . I better get them on this October when we go . . . did he/she say a specific date?

Wow, I wonder why they would level Big Thunder and start from scratch?

Thanks for the info . . . even it's it's rumors . . . it's fun to know about!!

I don't have a date for the riverboat but take your kids any way. It is a classic Disney ride especially if you listen to the story told.

He said that Big Thunder needs so much work that it bascially can't be accomplished. I agree, this would surprise me.

Sometimes it is easier to demolish and start from the ground up . . . I wonder if they will do both of the rides at the same time . . . that will make a lot of people VERY unhappy!

Re: Significant Rumors

Oh boy, I hope they don't re-do Space Mountain like they did over at Disneyland. This has been my biggest Disney fear. Don't get me wrong, I think the DL version is really cool....but I LOVE the WDW version. It's just classic. I'll be crossing my fingers....

Really? I think Space Mountain Mission 2 @ DLRP is one of the best Disney rides ever!

WOW that amazing that you think that. I think Space Mountain is one of the bigger and better things they have in Paris. but as I say we are all different.

I have had a wish for a long time now that rides like splash mountain and journey to Atlantis have two options/versions one for big kids with a big splash and one with an alternate ending for small kids with no big splash so they can enjoy Brer Rabbit etc

I understand Space Mountain but 'leveling' BTMRR makes no sense to me at all.

Erin's petition for more goats on BTMRR must have got people thinking at WDW...all I'm saying.

(Iger: I am proud to introduce you to Big Goat Mountain Rail Road! Now with more goats!)

haha, maybe they are adding an ACTUAL petting zoo with goats like Disneyland has. THAT would rock!

Re: Significant Rumors

Hope the Riverboat is still there through 2008. Would like to ride 'one last time'. We like the Riverboat and Tom Sawyer Island and will miss them both.
I understand the Space Mountain, and even Thunder Mountain, just hope they don't try to do both at the same time - lots of disappointment!

Re: Significant Rumors

I'm bummed about the River Boat and TSI... I still haven't gotten on the River Boat, and want to ride it atleast once before they take it out. My DS loved TSI, although the DH didn't like it at all...
