(6/6/03) The odd rumor of the day comes from a trusted source who says that the park is planning to drain the old 20K Sub Lagoon to start the first phase of construction on a new show amphitheater. My gut instinct is to think this might be the rumored WDW’s version of the Aladdin show, but does anyone else have any ideas?

(6/16/03) The latest update to this rumor claims that while early construction work may begin on the Sub Lagoon in the next year, it won’t be for a new theater, or even the Aladdin show. It seems this area could be used for another attraction in about 3-4 years."

Ok, now, sounds like a good idea, but I feel that this is a very false rumor or a possablility for a water shortage for Magic Kingdom. From taking the Keys to the Kingdom tour, our guide said that the reason why construction hasn't already been done on the sub lagoon is that the sub lagoon is the source of all continuous streams of water in the Magic Kingdom. It goes from the lagoon, down and around the castle, into the Rivers of America, then pumped from the Rivers of America to the Jungle Cruse where dye is mixed in at Switzer Falls. So, if they can't concrete over it or drain it unless major changes are made to pump water into the Jungle Cruse, the Rivers of America and the Castle. But, what do you think about this? More, what could possably be there?

There have been rumors for years about the site. I wish they would put something there-hey maybe they could bring back the subs and do something with Nemo and Ariel!:laugh

Actually this is a reasonable rumor - as far as the ride area being looked at again.

Forget the Aladdin stuff, the ride may be drained for real in the near future and some roads traveling behind the old 20,000 buildings redone with a new attraction being looked at to fit in the old space. Keep a watch out, cause things are in the works once again, but nothing really fast.

OOOOOOOO me too!! I like the idea with a Nemo/Little Mermaid ride!! My DD would be in heaven.

I had this momentary confusion, when I first read this I thought .... 20K was about Capt Nemo .. how could he be connected to Ariel ( although I remember a mermaid being in there) ..then pow .. it hit me .. duhhhh Nemo as in Finding Nemo not Capt Nemo.
