I agree with you . . . it's too much $$$! I actually read about the mag in a graphics magazine I get. They were saying it's a 12x12 formatted magazine, so each issue is collectable.

I did buy the magazine on Saturday and paid $15.95 @ Barnes and Noble. I think the magazine is informative and artfully done. It's the premier issue and I will keep it in the plastic covering that it came in as a collectable. Will I spend $75 for a membership? No way. Too much money.

Re: D23 Charter Memberships

I looked at their merchandise for sale and was going to buy a hat and shirt but it's for members only. With the way things are in the economy you would think they would sell anyone. $75.00 for membership to D23 no way.

I plan on buying the magazine too. I loved the Disney Mag and still miss it. I agree, $75 for a membership is just crazy, especially with economy in the gutter.

Did anybody check out the merchandise? There is an ink pen that sells for $850. That's Eight Hundred and Fifty Dollars not Eight Dollars and Fifty Cents!!!!

Re: D23 Charter Memberships

Allears.net has more coverage about D23 from a telephone press conference... More on the D23 Program (AllEars® Team Blog)

(At least) One thing that I had reported was incorrect; the gift is NOT a pin. "-- a "Surprise Collectible Gift" and the opportunity to purchase exclusive member merchandise. Each member who joins D23 will receive an exclusive collectible gift from the new Walt Disney Archives Collection. ("And it's NOT a pin," Clark laughed.)This merchandise line was created specifically with D23 members in mind, and each piece is authorized by the Walt Disney Archives. "

The press conference also confirmed something that Jim Hill (of jimhillmedia.com) had reported. Disney told (warned?) him that they were going to start doing what he does. For those of you who don't know, Jim Hill is known for his insider-like reports on the Disney Co. He's obviously well connected with some folks inside Disney, and he gets some incredible, mostly reliable insider info. From the Press Conference, it's obvious that the D23 website is going to be posting "behind the scenes" info.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who didn't understand the point of this special club. $75? For what? No. Not happening. That $$ could buy me a one way flight to WDW!

Unreal indeed. The only one who could possibly afford such a luxury now sits in jail.
