D23 Charter Memberships
It's official... D23 Charter Membership | DisneyShopping.com
I have to admit that I don't get it. For $75 you get the magazine (4 issues), a certificate, a gift (likely the pins that were featured at stitchkingdom.com), discounted admission to D23 events, and the opportunity to buy stuff. Bruce

This is really a nutty idea. I am not THAT crazy about Disney.

Re: D23 Charter Memberships
Blah... LAME! I knew it was going to be a 'special fan club' but I thought maybe it would have included something a little more exclusive or exciting. Totally NOT joining!

Re: D23 Charter Memberships
I have to find out more details, but for $75, I'd prefer a day in the parks, I think!

Re: D23 Charter Memberships
My mom got the magazine at Barnes & Noble a couple of days ago. I'm not sure how much it was. But I bet it was cheaper.(If not, I'm surprised that she would spend that kind of money for it)

Re: D23 Charter Memberships
I think what turns me off the most is that the $75 includes DISCOUNTS to special D23 events. OK, seriously? For $75 they should just HAVE special events for members... INCLUDED. Like fun get-togethers, etc. If that was the case I'd probably join.

Re: D23 Charter Memberships
Holy cow! That's a lot of money. For about half that I would join in a second just for the magazine but that's too much for a fan club. If it was like the old Magic Kingdom Club where members got discounted passes or rooms I would pay the $75 but I think I'm going to have to pass on this.

Re: D23 Charter Memberships
pffff... that looks like a rip-off. $75 for four magazines??? Are you kidding me???? And love the discounts to D23 events.
The charter member thing looks cool, though (err, to a Disney fan).... but I don't want to spend $75/year. I have no income! Besides, if this flops (likely), it would've been a waste of money. No thanks.

Re: D23 Charter Memberships
I agree. I've never been a fan of "discount cards" where you have to spend money to save money. I can't wrap my brain around this. I'm not sure I'll join.

Re: D23 Charter Memberships
I would love to have the pin but......that's a lot of money for a pin. As for
D23 events....I hate to fly as it is, and I'm sure not going to Anaheim for a D23 Expo. Chances are, I would never be able to get to a special D23 event. But I'm blathering because I'd love to have that darn pin. Oh, well, it will probably be on Ebay soon. Here's an article that goes into more depth on the magazine (which they claim is more like a coffee table book). Disney D23 Magazine Review - Lotsa Details, Some Photos | StitchKingdom.com

Re: D23 Charter Memberships
I was able to find a lot more specific information about what's included. EVen though this sounds a little better I still don't think I'm going to join. MAYBE if it was $40-$50. but NOT $75. This was in the official Disney Press Release:
"A one-year D23 membership ($74.99) includes: * Disney twenty-three quarterly publication: A one-year subscription (four issues) to D23's new collectible magazine filled with stunning photography, dazzling illustrations and the ultimate Disney insider perspective. This advertising-free keepsake is the all-access pass to discovering the magic of Disney's past, present and future. * Membership Certificate and Card: The D23 membership card and suitable-for-framing member certificate both specially created for D23's Charter Year feature many of Disney's most beloved characters. * Surprise Collectible Gift and Member Merchandise: Each member who joins D23 will receive an exclusive collectible gift from the new Walt Disney Archives Collection. This merchandise line was created specifically with D23 members in mind, and each piece is authorized by the Walt Disney Archives. All Disney fans are welcome, but D23 members will receive a discount on Expo admissions and early access to the show daily. D23 also offers unique members-only special event opportunities throughout the year. * Disney.com/D23: All fans can stay connected to Disney every day through D23's new Web site, featuring up-to-the-minute Disney news, feature stories, event info and more, but only D23 members will receive regular email updates on special event and merchandise opportunities exclusive to them. Disney twenty-three quarterly publication Disney today launches its new quarterly publication Disney twenty-three, a hybrid entertainment and lifestyle magazine that is the all-access pass to discovering the magic of Disney's past, present and future.
