Hi,

I recently visited Beijing China and north of the city near the Great Wall was a construction site that appeared to be an amusement park. I was told that Disney started building as park there before it was stopped by the Chinese Government.

There were several buildings as well as what looked like the inside shell of a Castle, Cinderella's perhaps? The construction looked like it was a couple of years old with it being stopped in mid-process.

I was also told that the Chinese Government paid Disney money to cover their losses in the construction.

Does anyone know anything about this? I know Disney is making a park near Hong Kong and is looking near Shanghai to also build a park.

It would seem like Beijing might be an ideal spot with the 2008 Olympics going to be there plus it being near the Great Wall which is a major tourist attraction by itself. Beijing has a large population but I'm not sure if most of them could afford to visit a Disney Park.

I find it surprising that the goverment even let them start it. That goverment seems to be the most backward and strict in just about the entire world. I can't see Disney downgrading themselves to their (the goverments) level, even though the citizens would enjoy it.

Hi,

I find your note a little odd since Disney is already going to open a park near Hong Kong and is talking of opening another park somewhere else in China. Shanghai is another city that has been mentioned.

Anyway, I'm still trying to find out any information about what I saw north of Beijing near the Great Wall.
