Just looking to see if anyone out there is planning on taking one of the West Coast Cruises happening in 2005 for Disneyland's 50th Anniversary?

I am hoping to get on one of them. I can get a pretty good deal, but only right before they sail. I am within driving distance, so that isn't a problem. I am hoping there are some cancellations so I can go. Probably will be the July 17th 6 night cruise, that would be the most likely to have any openings.

Being a part time travel agent I can tell you that the prices for the cheapest catagory for the west coast cruises are DOUBLE what it would cost for an east coast cruise. Don't get me wrong I love DCL and have cruise with them 3 times but even that is steep for me. But....I will be in Disneyland July 12-19 to celebrate Disneylands 50th birthday (July 17) and mine (July 14). I hope DCL isn't just doing this relocation for the 50th celebration but hoping they are feeling out the public to get our own DCL ship here on the west coast. I know they have already drawn up plans for a third ship, hopefully we (all of us on the west coast) will get it.

my family and I are taking a 6 night cruise. I cant wait! Its gonna be soooo awsome!! :-) :-) and Dianedisney- The prices are higher because they are having to bring the ship all the way from the east coast to the west coast and they are having to spend a little bit on the port from which the ship is leaving from, so that adds to the cost and the cruises are all like 7-14 night cruises. Well thats what Ive heard anyway. :-)

Re: Anyone else out there doing the West Coast cruise in 2005?

Relocation for cruise ships doesn't account for double the cost. Other cruise lines relocate all the time. I can't say I don't blame DCL. They know the ship only being in port 12 wks will bringin the bucks, that's smart thinking on their part. I have booked many cruises and believe me DCL is way above normal on their price for a 7 night Mexican Riveria. But like I said...they are smart business men/women for knowing a good thing.

Re: Anyone else out there doing the West Coast cruise in 2005?

My dh is itching to go. We'll see.... We'd get a pretty good discount because of dh.

We've gone on a cruise before (to Mexico, for our honeymoon), but I just can't imagine going with kids. I don't want to be stuck in a tiny cabin at 9 pm every night, and I don't want to shuffle them off to midnight daycare either...

How does it work? (ie, cruises with kids) A friend of mine went on one and took her nanny with, and her son stayed in a cabin with the nanny...I mean, jeez, what's the point?
