Icon5 Eastern Cruise shore excursions

Hi gang! I searched all over looking for pointers on shore excursions and could find very few. Has anyone done any they liked or disliked? Give us a clue so we can make a decision for our cruise in December 2004 - 7 day

Re: Eastern Cruise shore excursions

I've been to the eastern carribean years agon (non-disney), and we're going again next year (Disney!).
The excursions look to be almost the same as when we went years ago.
As far as pointers: it depends on your likes & dislikes.....if you are into beaches, then you're in for a treat with chances to hit some awesome beaches in ST Marten, St Thomas, St John and Castaway Cay. If you're into adventure, nature, or touring......they have excursions that you'd enjoy also.

Re: Eastern Cruise shore excursions

Most of the shore excursions are water related. So if you are not into snorking, etc, I would recommend exploring on your own. The one thing I do highly recommend when in St. Thomas, and that is Glady's Cafe for lunch . There are signs because it is not on a main street, it is located in one of the quaint brick alley ways. They have the best ice tea on the island and the the conch fritters are great. The atmosphere is laid back and staff are so friendly. I like being at sea more than the ports but I do enjoy St. Thomas for the outdoor market (knock-off purses cheap), jewerly and Glady's. Be sure to stop into Blackbeards Brewery right on the main drag for souveniers .

Re: Eastern Cruise shore excursions

We went kayaking in St. Maarten and had a blast! We aren't big kayakers or anything, so it's okay for anyone to do. It's not for really young kids though, sometimes the current can be too rough for them to paddle against. In St. Thomas we did the Atlantis submarine. My 12 year old son LOVED it!! He was spotting sealife better than the guide!! Of course, on Castaway Cay the best thing to do is get a massage in an open air cabana! Such decadence! These fill up quickly, so if you're interested, upon boarding the ship, go directly to the spa. There should be a woman sitting at a small table outside of the spa taking reservations. It wasn't cheap...but it was fantastic!!

Re: Eastern Cruise shore excursions

The best thing I have ever done on the Eastern cruise is in St. Thomas, grab a taxi, and have them take you to Morning Star Beach. It is about 10 minutes from the ship (you can see the ship from there), and it is fantastic, and not crowded at all. The taxi was about $100 round trip for 20 of us. There is a Marriott there, and nothing else around. The nice thing is there are two restaurants and a little beach shop right there. They also have beach chairs you can rent, as well as nice restrooms, etc.
