Advice on Port Canaveral hotel

Has anyone stayed at the Radisson Hotel at Port Canaveral? I made reservations for 1 night prior to an August 2005 cruise because it was so close to the pier and there is a shuttle to the ship so you can leave your car at the hotel. But, I was just doing some on-line surfing and ran across some less than flattering reviews of the place. I'd love to know if anyone has stayed there or heard anything about it. Thanks so much for your help!

I've nevere stayed there , but have herd the same reviews you have, some good some bad.
If you are looking to use their shuttle and "free" parking at the hotel while you are on the cruise then I'd go for it and not worry to much about the reviews since it's only one night.
Good Luck

Re: Advice on Port Canaveral hotel

From what I've heard it isn't a bad hotel, in addition there are some hotels associated with the Marriott chain in the Port area that offer free parking and transportation to the ship, I believe that one of them is a Courtyard.

Re: Advice on Port Canaveral hotel

We actually stayed in the Orlando area (Universal for a day) and drove over the morning of the cruise. Keep in mind you can't usually board until noon, and the rooms are not ready until 1:30. We arrived about 11:30 about 45 minutes from Orlando, checked in and off to the pool.
My reccomendation, if you want to hit the pools keep a carry on handy. Also plan to spend about 10 minutes filling out embarkation paperwork. This can not be done prior to getting, but they have samples, and its a matter of copying the info.
We just got back and had a BALL!!! of to Disneyland in 2 weeks!!

Re: Advice on Port Canaveral hotel

Our family stayed at the Radisson resort at the Port in April of 2004 prior to our cruise. There were 19 of us going on the cruise and we met at the Radisson a few days prior and started our vacation there. The hotel was wonderful. The rooms were very clean, the pool area was very big and beautiful and the staff was very helpful. We left our car at the Radisson and used their shuttle service to the port. The location was very picturesque and tropical. You can also see the ship docked from the hotel. I would highly recommend this hotel to you. I do not think you will be disappointment. All of us loved it! Have a great time on the cruise!
