Yet Another Cruise Transportation Question
Looking for advice and opinions here...
Originally our plan was to do Vero Beach after the cruise, but we decided to change those plans and do the Wilderness Lodge Villas again. We're actually heading into WLV for 1 day, then to the cruise, and then back to WLV for 3 more days. After making the switch, I was thinking we'd take the DCL transportation to and from the resort. However, I just found out last night that the DCL transportation doesn't go to the Wilderness Lodge. Huh. It just doesn't seem worthwile to have to taxi to another resort...so this option seems out. Quicksilver, which I've been seeing great reviews, has a $245 (+ tip) quote for the resorts to Port Canaveral. Tiffany, who we've used in the past with okay results but has been getting some bad reviews, has a $210 (+tip) quote. The last option would be car rental. Either just renting a car for the entire trip (and paying to park at the port) or going through the hassle of renting 2 cars (1 to the port, and 1 from the port to the resort). While I'd rather not have to drive during the vacation, I have read that driving yourself makes for a quick getaway after you get off the boat. We were planning on using the new Express to get from the airport to the resort...unless we do the car rental thing. Have I missed any other options? Advice? Thanks. Bruce |

Re: Yet Another Cruise Transportation Question
Bruce, thats a tough one. I'd probally go with the car rentals, before and after the cruise.
Don't really know of any other options for ya. Good Luck!!

Nice to see you around! The way I look at it is that renting a car takes time and money. You are going to spend the money anyways, but why waste the time? Unless you are going to save an armload of money, it just isn't worth it. You have to figure the car is going to be $150 to $200 for the rental, plus the $40 for parking, plus gas, etc. Kind of looks like a toss up. Call gregory at Quicksilver and see if he will match the price for you, or come a little closer. We have used town cars on the cruise. They are just waiting for you right where the cars are parked. You hop in, they drive away. Your own car can't be any quicker than that. Plus, if it was me, after four days of being on the cruise, I would forget what car I had rented, and would be walking around the parking lot clicking the alarm button. Hey, wait, I do that now with my own car!

Re: Yet Another Cruise Transportation Question
Mickey,
Thanks for the advice...I'm glad you have some personal experience with the scenario. I've gone round and round about this, and I think you're correct. To save money, it would be (IMO) a giant hassle...and that's not what I'm looking for on vacation. You talked me into it sir! Thanks. Bruce |
