Excursions-- Which are the good one's?

We are doing the 4 night cruise to Nassau I just wondered what some of everyone's ideas are about the excursions there! Which are the good one's, and how far in advance should we book them?

In Castway Cay, Do you have to reserve the tubes for the day ahead of time? How about the banana boat thing??

HELP PLEASE!!!

Minnie loved the Stingray City in Nassau, said it was totally cool.

On Castaway Cay, they have a package you can get that has snorkel gear, a bike for an hour and a tube for one low price, a good deal if you are going snorkeling. You can book that on the boat before you get off. If you just want a tube, they have like a million of them, it would be no problem getting one there. Anything that involves getting off the island, I would book in advance. I have done the banana boat, it is a blast. You just have to make sure that you know everyone on the banana, it makes for a much better ride.

Re: Excursions-- Which are the good one's?

We did the Atlantis tour. I really just wanted to see the hotel, but it turned out to be quite good. The acquariums there are really interesting. And the hotel is amazing. It was a short tour. Only took a couple of hours. One thing I would not do is go to the Straw Market in Nassau. It's huge, chaotic and claustrophobic. If you have a chance to get to Serenity Cove (the adult-only beach at Castaway Cay) book a massage. This is the closest I've ever come to heaven.

I vote for the massage!! It's one of my most favorite memories of the cruise!! Go straight up to the spa when you arrive on the ship to book a massage - they go VERY quickly!! When we were in Nassau, we just took a horse drawn cariage tour, are rider was a riot, and we had alot of fun!! If I were to take the cruise now, I would head over to Atlantis. That place looks amazing!!

Re: Excursions-- Which are the good one's?

Mickey,

Is Stingray City in Nassau a more natural environment than the other Stingray excursion (Blackbeard's Cay)? At Blackbeard's Cay, the rays are basically in a big pen and have had their dangerous bits removed... I'd rather see them in their own true environment.

Re: Excursions-- Which are the good one's?

I think I just answered my own question... From something I just read, it sounds like Stingray City in Nassau is very similar to the Stingray excursion at Blackbeard's Cay. There is a Stingray City excursion in the Cayman Islands that is in the ray's natural enviromment and is more of a snorkeling excursion.

Re: Excursions-- Which are the good one's?

When you go on your cruise makes a difference with booking in advance. We went in January. We booked the Fishing excursion in advance, which was important. It booked up fast. We also booked the banana boat in advance but it did not appear to have been necessary. They had openings throughout the day. The water trikes and paddle boats were empty much of the day and by mid afternoon there were none being used. They have plenty of rafts and tubes for rental and we did that first thing, no problem. Obviously if you are going in May or later you want to book everything in advance as those dates will be more crowded than our January date. And as always, you can make the reservation in advance and if you change your mind, cancel accoring to their policy. No problem. Have a great time!!
