How far out??

Those of you that do book Disney Cruises, how far out do you do so??

Are these advantages, $$ or otherwise for booking a year plus out???

We have friends that are planning their Nov. '06 cruise (yes 2006) and they say that I better get cracking if I want to book a 2006 cruise.

Lastly, are there any advantages in booking a cruise without do so through Disney? Can you get a discount????

Re: How far out??

Most cruisers that I know, including myself book around one-year out.
I found that the earlier you book the better when it comes to cruises. You have you choice and the prices tend to go up not down from there.
Also it may be advantageous to use a travel agent. There are several agents that have "blocks" of rooms reserved and are able to offer them at a substancial discount as opposed to booking direct through Disney.

Re: How far out??

If booking a DIsney Cruise, the sooner the better. They have an "Early Booking Rate" available. The longer you wait to book, the more the price actually increases. The rates for 2006 were "opened up" in Sept 2004. The best rates you will see will be 18 months out. I booked my cruise Jan 2003 for May 2004. We had to change our cruise date and will now be sailing out May 15 2005!!! But I think if you book at the 12 month mark you will still qualify for the Early Booking Rates.

What Disney does, is this...once they see the rooms booking up, they INCREASE the price for the cruise...wether this is 12 months out or 6 months out.

FYI...if we really enjoy this 4 day cruise...we plan to book a 7 day cruise for....2007! (as soon as those dates come out!) The planning IS half the fun!

Your best bet is to really search the internet for Travel Agents. Each one will offer special booking offers at one time or another. Some offer a rebate, while others offer an onboard stateroom credit(money you can spend while on the ship for drinks, photos, and spa treatments).

Once you cruise, and decide you love it...if you rebook another cruise while onboard...you can get up to 10% off your next cruise and a $200.00 onboard stateroom credit(when booking a 7 day cruise).

Have fun shopping around...and get that cruise booked!!!!

Yes,Yes, Yes, Book early as you can. I booked with our own Mickey, from Mouseketrips I think in May 04 for our Christmas Cruise 05. And I look at Disneycruiseline.com often, and they are sold out for our trip, I don't know if all tickets are gone, I think they get spread out alot. But with ten months to go, its getting pretty close to selling out! Book early!!!

Re: How far out??

Book early, not only are there benefits $$$$wise but you also get a better choice of cabins!!

Disneymom booked her cabins Oct 04 for Dec 05. We booked on the same cruise in Dec 04 and the price had already gone up $50 per person and our cabin was closer to the front by 20 cabins!!

Re: How far out??

Congrats skwak!

We booked our Disney Cruise about a year in advance! We are leaving Port Canaveral on the 3rd of July 2005 for four days on the Wonder! It will be our very first cruise, and I'm told that to take a Disney Cruise as your first cruise is the way to go! With November 2006 being the month you sail, NOW is the time to start getting excited!
