Got my Disney Cruise planner!

Woo hoo! Came home from our weekend away and found the cruise planner in the mailbox. The dvd is great!! We're thinking of cruising next year. The 4-day is probably best in our budget. BUT might be willing to try the 7-day. I've done a day cruise before but DH has never cruised and DS(will be 9 at the time), well, this will be a first for him, too! Any thoughts or advice on how many days? (I think the land-sea package would be too much for the first cruise. We did WDW this past Easter.) Thanks in advance!

Re: Got my Disney Cruise planner!

If you can do the 7 day, go for it. You don't feel rushed at all, plenty of time to do and see everything on board. As an alternative, a 4 night isn't too bad.

Whatever you decide to do, book it as soon as you can. It is just going to get more expensive the longer you wait. Your deposit is refundable until 75 days before you sail, so if things change, you can cancel.

Re: Got my Disney Cruise planner!

yes, go for the 7 if you can.

On 4 or less days you'll just be getting used to everything, and believe me you won't want to leave.

smee57, I say, go for the 7 day land/sea cruise! My family and I have never been on a cruise, and we are doing the land/sea cruise this summer! You get to thoroughly exhaust yourselves at the parks for three days, then relax for four more during the cruise!!

At least..........that's our plan anyway!!

Re: Got my Disney Cruise planner!

Thanks for all the input so far. I never thought that 4 days might feel rushed. Maybe we can swing a 7-day. It would either be Easter week or the last week of October or Christmas week. (I'm a teacher and taking extra days off isn't an easy thing to do.) Any thoughts on the best week to cruise? Summer is always an option but it seems silly to go from hot, summer weather to, uh, hot, summer weather.

Mickey, I'm guessing we can book the cruise through you? You did great with our WDW vacation at PC!

Re: Got my Disney Cruise planner!

I don't do cruises until that one Alaska Dream cruise comes along years from now, however many friends of mine are cruise-a-holics you might say...with that said, I asked one of them that has done the Disney cruise thing 5x now, she said go 7 because 4 will just be a tease!!!

Re: Got my Disney Cruise planner!

I would go for the 4 day, just because your DH and DS have never cruised before. It would be a shame to spend the money for a 7 day if one or both of them happened to get seasick. I say, try it out with the 4 day, and see how things go. If all is well, maybe next time you can do the 7 day.

Re: Got my Disney Cruise planner!

Yippee...I am excited for you! One thing to keep in mind...holiday cruises usually price a little higher than others. But if that is the only time your able...go for it. If you can, do the 7 night cruise. The only thing is then you don't get to do WDW. I can't ever talk myself into going on just the cruise! If you do opt for the 7 day land/sea I suggest doing the 4 night cruise and adding a day to the land portion...that way you have a little more time at WDW and arn't too rushed there. Most importantly have fun!!!

Re: Got my Disney Cruise planner!

Thanks for all the input! I noticed how the price goes up pretty significantly at the holidays. Has anyone ever done a summer cruise? The price is better but it just seems strange leaving summer weather to go on a cruise. I wish I had other options without taking off too many days.
Re: 4 vs. 7, the thought has crossed my mind that either DS or DH may not have sea legs. I don't know if I should worry about that or not.
