Disney Cruiseline help
My husband mentioned finding out the prices of cruises. I went to Mickey's other site - and I couldn't find a list of prices.
I went to Disney's cruise website and I can only find the prices for the adults. Can anyone help me figure out how much it will cost for my 3 children to join us? I know it depends on which stateroom we get and which cruise we book. We are interested in the 3 night cruise, and we have 5 people, so I think we have to book a 3 or 4 category room. The adult price is 349 per person. I just can't find the child's price. Please tell me it's not 349!

Re: Disney Cruiseline help
I've been waiting for replies, not realizing that the two of you DID reply!
Yes, my DH wants to try a cruise. I'm all for it - except Disney is like...WAY expensive. I'm still putting it all together, but we are looking at a 3 night Bahama cruise, but we may end up doing Carnival or something more affordable. Of course, that may change once I look at Buzzlightyear's link. (Thank you very much for the link, by the way!)

Re: Disney Cruiseline help
Well, nevermind. We can't afford that right now.
It would be almost 3 grand for a 3 day cruise! I can NOT see paying that. I'll have to go to the Carnival website :c( Sorry, Disney! Maybe when I go back to work!

Re: Disney Cruiseline help
Erin, as wonderful as Disney is, I would consider another cruiseline for your vacation. Disney is way overpriced especially for a family of 5. You either have to book an expensive suite or 2 cabins that connect. I was quoted a price of around $5000 for our family of 5 for a summertime cruise. That didn't include the airfare to Florida. Try vacationstogo.com they list lots of discount cruises that may fit your budget better.

Re: Disney Cruiseline help
I'm trying to convince my husband to take the cruise while we are there at wdw in october. i've foung that the prices from costco travel is the best there is. and believe me i've gotten quotes for other places. we also have 5 in our family. it will cost us $2380 for the 3nights 4 day cruise in the cat 4 room for the 5 of us. compared to $3000 plus with disney cruise reservation. i recommend checking with costco travel. hope this helps.

Yeah, the Disney Cruises are unbelieveably expensive. And what really gets me is there are EVEN MORE expensive when the kids are off from school and they'll have no problems filling the boats. And I guess thats the norm for the whole travel industry. Lets get all the families that don't want to take their kids out of school and charge them double!! Thats why I've been taking my kids out of school for our vacations for many years now. Sorry about my rant..........

Re: Disney Cruiseline help
And Erin if you are still really interested in cruising, ther are a ton of them out there at wayyyy lower prices, espically the 3 day bahamas cruises out of the Florida ports.

Re: Disney Cruiseline help
Erin
Please be careful with any 3 day cruise that sails out of Florida other than the Disney Cruise. They are designed to be short "party" cruises with basically nothing organized for kids (and usually not the best place for kids to be). My suggestions would be to either wait until you can go with Disney, don't take your kids or go on a longer (7 night) cruise with Royal Caribbean. One other thing is that Disney often has FL resident rates in the Fall and Winter that are pretty decent. There aren't any now, but should be some soon.

Re: Disney Cruiseline help
Mickey,
Thanks for the advice. You bring up a BIG point that I hadn't even thought of. We aren't drinkers, the kids aren't around that kind of thing, so we would of been REALLY uncomfortable if the main focus is partying. (the kind of partying that doesn't include kids, that is) I guess I'll just wait - because I don't want to do a long cruise the first time. I want to bring my kids. I don't want them to be in any weird situations. Thanks!

Re: Disney Cruiseline help
Mickey hit the nail on the head..."Party Time". Carnival is a much much lower priced cruise but I have found to get what you pay for. I have been on a 3 and 4 day Carnival cruise and would not cruise them again. Especially during Spring Break or at Graduation time. They don't really enforce the drinking age of 21. In the morning I wanted to walk out on deck and enjoy my cup of coffee and was continually tripping over teenage bodies either sleeping or passed out on the deck literally.
The crew don't have near the restrictions that DCL or RCCL have. DCL is very social with their passengers but are NOT allowed to socialize with them if you know what I mean. Also another thing to consider is nationality of the crew. DCL has a wonderful blend of many countries represented on the cruise staff. Carnival is Italian, Princess is British, NCL & RCCL are Norwegien. Don't get me wrong...I am half Italian...but Italian men are very forward and if you are cruising with teen girls be warned. Also look into what you want to do on a cruise, DCL does not have gambling where the other cruise do. Also check how elaborate the kids programs are on board and the minimum age of the children accepted into the different programs.

Re: Disney Cruiseline help
Check the prices on the 7 night with connecting cabins. We've got a family of 5 with connecting cabins (Cat 9) on a 7 night Double Scoop cruise with DCL in Nov 2006 for under $5000. A family of 3 is about $3000 for the same 7 night cruise. After doing DCL once, 3 or 4 days is NOT long enough for me!
