Kids spending money
My family and I are going on our first cruise next month. We have three children; all with spending money of their own. I know that while on board, everything is done by credit card and charged to your room. My question is, how have your children spent their money without having overspent what is in their pockets? I would have to hate hanging out with them to make sure that they don't go over their budget, they are not little kids. Any thoughts and/or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot!

Re: Kids spending money
My children are only 5 and 3 so we have not dealt with their own spending money, so sorry I can't help you out, but I just wanted to say WELCOME to DC

Thanks Maria-
I really should have registered to be a member long ago. I have been reading the postings for several months now. I have learned a lot from others. Maybe this question will help someone else out also. Stacy |

Re: Kids spending money
Well, for the kids, the only thing they are going to have to pay for are any souvenirs they would buy in the shops, or possibly snacks at the nightly show.
For our kids, we let them look in the shops when they want to, but we need to be there to buy anything. We don't let the kids have charging privliges on their cards at all, unless they are over 12. For those over 12, they know they aren't supposed to buy anything unless they ask first, so we know what they are buying.

Re: Kids spending money
We also let our kids (both 11) look around in the shops at their liesure while on ship! The things that they wished to purchase, they made a note of, and when we met up with them, we would go to the shops and let them charge it to their cards! We were with them when they used their room key charge priveledges, and it worked out extremely well! It gave them the "cool factor" feel of being able to charge items themselves! They never charged anything when we weren't with them!
