Trip Report! Disney Wonder 29 Dec- 02 Jan
I drove up the day before and stayed at the Radisson 1 mile from port. I recommend it if you drive cause they have a cruise package…room at $109, and parking for however long your cruise is. They’ll shuttle you to and from the port (parking at port is $10/day). Disney shuttles don’t arrive until noon, same time boarding starts…so I made sure to get there as early as I could so I could get in before most of the people arrived…Best advice I got!!! Also, since I was one of the first to arrive, my luggage was one of the first in my hall to arrive. The terminal looked very nice…it was decorated for Christmas, and the tree was up. Theres a model of the wonder in the middle of the room, and characters came out for photos before boarding…
Onboard, the first thing I did was take charging privileges off my daughters Key to the World card, but since shes only 5, I kept her card in my wallet for the whole cruise. After that we followed the crowd to buffet lunch at Parrot Cay. Everything was super organized to get everyone seated, eating, and out the door again, but at the same time, I didn’t feel like I was on an assembly belt nor did I feel like I was being rushed. After that, I went to my room and unpacked my day bag. As for my room, I loved it. It was #2582, a deluxe ocean view stateroom, cat. 9. It was a good sized room, and the window is huge. As for space, I had a split bathroom and in one there was a set of shelves in the corner with plenty of room to put things, but Im guessing not all rooms have that. The closet space was enough to hang up clothes for us plus our suitcase, but I cant say that for 2 adults or 3 people it would be enough…it only comes with about 12 hanger which isn’t a lot for 5 days worth. There was a shelf chest in the room that could hold a lot of clothes though, so that makes up for it. When we went to leave the room, I saw that my luggage had already arrived! It was only about 2:30, so I was really surprised…I waited till after we returned to the room to unpack it though. I then went and registered my daughter into the Oceanears Club, and to the spa to book a massage, got a tour, and ended up booking the ionithermie treatment instead…I couldn’t resist *sigh*. We walked around the ship for awhile and I entered the raffle for Internet access, which I won :D Then we went back to the room for the boat drill…simple enough. After that, we went up to the deck for the sail away celebration…I missed the characters waving goodbye though, cause I had to dash back to the room for the camera…*sigh*… Im glad we dressed nicely for the evening…even though some didn’t, plenty of people did. We had second seating dinner, so first we went to see Hercules, the musical at the Disney Theatre…like all the shows we saw it was awesome. After that, we had dinner at Parrot Cay…I sat with a family of four and another mother with her child. They were all great to talk to, and the kids got along. You can ask for crayons for the kids if you don’t get them… After dinner, I checked my daughter into the Oceanears Club, and head out to the singles mingle…which like I said was a total bust, but I did meet a nice couple. I picked up my daughter at the closing time of the club, head back to the room and we were both out cold. And well..that was the first day! I promise the rest of this report wont be as long as this! Whew! Im glad you like it so far... I decided, if Im going to do it, Ill do it while Im still bubbling over from the trip and remember the details... I know for a fact this will not be my last disney cruise! I do hope though that the next one is sometime before my 25th wedding anniversary...considering Im not married yet... I do hope it comes soon (the cruise that is...not the wedding) :laugh
