Conde Nast's BEST CRUISE SHIPS IN THE WORLD

I received my February issue of Conde Nast Traveler, and I just had time to thumb through it, when I noticed they ranked the Best Cruise Ships in the World. They had rankings for SMALL SHIPS, MEDIUM SHIPS and LARGE SHIPS. Disney's ships fall into the LARGE SHIP category, so let me show you the rankings!

Surprisingly, the Disney Wonder scored an overall score of 83.5 and the Disney Magic scored an overall score of 81.5. Not enough to get them in the top 15!!! Celebrity is the cruise line that REALLY stands out here. Check this out:

1 - Celebrity Constellation 89.6
2 - Celebrity Millenium 88.8
3 - Celebrity Summit 88.8
4 - Celebrity Infinity 87.6
5 - Royal Caribbean Seranade of the Seas 87.4
6 - Royal Caribbean Explorer of the Seas 86.9
7 - Celebrity Galaxy 86.6
8 - Royal Caribbean Navigator of the Seas 85.7
9 - Celebrity Mercury 85.8
10 - Royal Caribbean Radiance of the Seas 85.7

**Amazing, since Royal Caribbean and Celebrity are now owned by the same person, if I am not mistaken!!**

Disney Wonder came in at #19 and Disney Magic came in at #21. HOWEVER, the WONDER did come in 4th place with a 91.3 in the BEST CREW/SERVICE category. They also came in 4th place with an 88.0 in the BEST CABINS category.

SURPRISING! Disney Magic came in VERY LAST PLACE with a score of 69.2 for BEST FOOD/DINING!!!!!! Both Wonder and Magic also had the LOWEST RANKINGS for BEST ITINERARIES. I have to tell you, I am VERY shocked about where they fell in the DINING category!

Anyway, I just wanted to share with you guys.

Hmmm...very interesting...I wouldn't say the food on Royal Caribbean is anything to write home about. Celebrity is a different story though. Interesting thing...the Infinity is going into dry dock soon..she still made #4...pretty impressive.

Yes Royal Caribbean and Celebrity are under the same "flag".

I'm a little surprised that they didn't place higher and then again I'm not. Cruise ships are not really Disney's business and therfore not their focus. If you notice they destroy the competition in the areas that are their focus, TV, animation and theme parks.

Yeah, great point, Dreamer. I just have this idea of Disney being a step ahead, and ABOVE everyone else, in everything they do!

Re: Conde Nast's BEST CRUISE SHIPS IN THE WORLD

ooooh very cool, we were studieing those kind of stats in school and yeah, Disney wan't too high up. But the ships that place the highest are the more adult themed ones, with the rock climbing walls and tennis courts nad full scale golf courses
Cruise Ships nowadays are taking the whole "bigger and better" thing to the extreme!

No problem! I just thought it was very interesting that Disney didn't place higher...even though Cruise ships are not their "specialty". I DEFINITELY thought they would place high in the DINING/FOOD category though!
