I am so excited!! I have officially booked our cruise portion of our trip next year!!!

We booked our second 4 night cruise in August!! We will be doing 8 days at WDW before that!!!! I am so excited but it is soo far away!

Lots of planning!!

My question is to those who have cruised and upgraded at check in! Has anyone done this, and IF there is space, is it any cheaper to upgrade at the last minute like that?? I know it can be done but I was wondering if the price is any different?

I have not personally done it, but I have heard it was cheaper. It seems you need to get there when the port opens to get a better shot.

If we leave WDW by 9 am is that early enough? When does port open?

Good luck- I have heard that there is very rarely any rooms avail to upgrade to. They sell to full capacity almost all the time from what I understand. Perhaps Mickey can help.

Yeah, I know it will be a longshot, but I know it can be done if there are any staterooms left!! Mickey says if any are available usually it will be the family deluxe so maybe!!

If not, it is OK!! We have 2 cat 9 oceanview rooms and that will give us lots of space! And last cruise we did not spend hardly anytime in the room anyway!!

Who cares right?

I dont know if its even possible to upgrade since I have a party of 6 but when we were a party of 4 we tried and were told that they always have a full ship-

I know, our last cruise we got there early and there was a big sign stating it was a FULL cruise and no upgrades were available!!

What time does the port open? Do you know?

Quick silver knows- they offered to get us there first thing and we were one of the first to board the ship the last time we went- it was nice to not have any lines and the terminal all to ourselves

The terminal opens at 10:00 am. I believe it takes around an hour to get there. That seems resonable to me. It sounds like you want to give a shot but are not going to let it bother you either way. That sounds like a good plan.

I have personally done this twice, but both times we chose not to upgrade. Both times we were already in a verandah room, and they could upgrade us to Cat.4, but it was like $400 each time. I think the difference was over $1,000 when we booked it. I have had family members who have upgraded at check in, no problem. We also tried our last trip for a few family members, but the cruise was basically sold out, so the only upgrade was to something way higher than they were in (11 to a 4), so it didn't make sense for them, it was too expensive.

Get there early, if possible, and watch your cruise to see if it looks like it is selling out or there are still rooms available. I also suggest you call the cruise line a few days before you are set to sail, and see what is available. No use rushing out there if there isn't a chance to upgrade.

that is good news- perhaps I might try and find out for my trip this time- do you know if its possible that the two bed suite might be avail? Do they ever upgrade automatic and not charge (I can always dream)
